We will be praying for your
We will be praying for your Mother. Hopefully everything will be ok, she has a very loving daughter to help her through this which will make a big difference in her recovery. We are sorry that anyone has to go through this as it is heart breaking. C. has NO conscience and continues to take lives for no rhyme or reason. God willing she will come through this and you will have her for many years to come. God Bless, Homer & Connie0 -

Praying for your mom and for you. Stay positive.

Thank you all for prayers. So as per the doctor the surgury went well yesterday. It lasted about 1 and a half hours. As per the doctor the margins were negative but the pathology report will have to reconfirm. Mom's tongue is swollen and she is in pain. Why does she has to suffer like that???? why????? I wish I could take the pain away from her for at least few minutes to give her some break. She was strong though, she did not show fear before going in, although after I came into the recovery room she started crying, not sure if it was releave tears that she went through it and that she is awake, or it was pain tears.... not sure...So can anybody tell me what else we will find out from the pathology report? I forgot to ask the doctor as I was very stressed out yesterday.0 -

Glad that your Mom did so well on the surgery and hope she now continues to heal. On the crying I can understand that as sometimes we are just relived to have it over or in my case a little depression may set in and I just need someone to be there for me. I am so blessed to have my Wife Caregiver who has never left my side all through out my many treatments. And your Mom might feel the same way just happy to have you there for her when she needs you the most.
On the pathology report you might just need to wait and see, I know its hard but that is what’s going to tell you everything, if it is cancer and what type of cancer it is.
Continuing to keep you both in prayer

I had about 95% of my tongue removed and replaced with part of my thigh it was not that bad. The swelling was terrible. I did stay in a self induced coma for a week so i would not hurt the new tongue and veins. I am pretty sure they were tears of joy instead of pain. I am in more pain now after radiation than i was after the tongue surgery. Prayers for you and your mom. David0 -

Hope it's a better day for your Mom, and you. They should be able to minimize the pain, some- all depends on what they give her. This is 2011, and most of the C med community is on the same page w/pain management. If your Mom has trouble conveying her suffering to the Drs or Nurses, perhaps you can do that for her. Don't assume they know how bad it is for her.
Prayers are with you and your Mom, Joanna. Great to hear SK is now in the mix with her care, and I hope she'll be confident enough to keep it in the Positive. Does help.
