If food gets stuck
I was in the hospital recently and had a tube but at that time was still trying to eat - SEE ALPHA MALE SYNDROM - when suddenly I could not breath and I mean nada for oxygen. I knew the food was stuck in my throat however the staff assumed my throat had swollen and they were bound and determined to shoot me with an e-pipen and God knows what else and I could not tell them no, all I could do was grunt and gasp. They put an oxygen mask on me and I think the moisture that was there finally broke a bit loose enough for me to get air. When I looked up they had called in the "Crash Team" and there were at least six doctors in my doorway, my first though was "this is a helluva time for them to have students watching me die (it is a nurses teaching school)".
My lesson learned was to make certain the staff knows that if my throad gets clogged and if this happens again I need moisture or a rod jammed down my throat not an Epipen.
My new normal strikes again.

Always something new
Denny, sorry but I am sure glad you are a few years ahead of me because I sure don’t want to go through half of the crap you been through. Just when you think you seen it all pop there it is something new again, I will keep that one in my lesson book for sure.

Hondo,
Your #1 wish had best be for me to have a long and healthy life since you seem to insist on geting the same crap I have :>)
Hang in there brother and try a flat beer in the PEG when you get it - the alcohol actually has calories.0 -

Yikes! That's scary. I am pretty scared of that happening to me. Especially since I eat alone majority of the time ane I have not been able to train Nizzy to do the Heimlich Maneuver and CPR. :-/ But seriously, my stricture is up high, I guess, and so far, when something gets stuck while eating (at least two or three times every time I eat) I could still breathe, thank God. That is definitely a serious fear of mine.0
