I Hate It When Doctors......

I haven't seen this addressed before, but I have seen a couple of posts with outrageous behavior by doctors.

So let's start a list to see what we have seen and/or heard from doctors, nurses, technicians, etc.

I hate it when doctors/nurses, etc.:

1) Don't talk to you directly but talk to your caregiver (or driver) like you're not even in the room.

2) Look at you and then say, "what is it exactly you expect me to do for you?"

3) Criticize another doctor's work (had some that insulted the surgeon who saved my life)

4) Don't take the time to read your chart.

    5. Roll there eyes when you tell them about something
    6. Fast hand shake and out the room with in a minute and you waited 2 hours to see them
    7. Don’t take the time to listing what you are tell them is wrong

All in all I would not change the ones I have now, it just took me 7 years to find the right doctors for me.

    And also
    8. Don't make eye contact.
    9. Perform painful precedures with local anesthetic.
    10. Tell you to "calm down."
    11. Treat concerns lightly (an ER doc told us "we see this all the time.")

    Doctors
    I also hate it when:

    1) You tell a doctor your symptoms and they say "well, I've never heard that before" and yet most people on the boards (regardless of what forum you're on) has had them.

    2) Tells you "it's all in your head" (gee ya think? I've got brain cancer!!)

    3) Tells you that if you don't agree to their treatment plan, they won't treat you.

    4) Says you're just being difficult. (Well, gee doc, how many times YOU been in the E.R.?)

    Fast Food Medicine-Hate It
    13. Treat you like a junkie when you request pain meds

    14. Maintain a "Mount Rushmore" face through the fleeting checkup

    15. Never apologize for having you wait an extra hour to see them, but expect you to be on time

    16. Take a quick look at your teeth and say, "Well, we're gonng have to yank a few of those" without talking about hyperbaric oxygen cabins, possible necrosis, or asking you if you are having any pain or trouble with your teeth.

    17. Generally act like machines

    I also hate it when:
    18. Points out something to the interns you didn't even know about (how I found out that my cancer had returned in 2005).

    19. Talks to you like you're a child and they are the all-knowing God.

    20. Ignore you when you tell them you can't take a certain medication and they prescribe it for you anyway. Meds never do get filled or taken.

    21. Specialist tells you to ignore what your PCP has told you and to follow their regimen (excuse me? My PCP knows me better than YOU ever will!)

    22. While in the hospital, one doctor (intern) tries to tell you it is time to be discharged even though the Doctor of Record you have been seeing the entire time in there has just told you that you can have/need an extra day. Grrrr.....snarl....hissssssss......

    23. After an invasive procedure that has left your extremeties numb so you can't move, proceeds to tell you that you are lying and orders you out of bed with the assistance of a nurse and you then proceed to collapse on the floor....because your legs are numb and you can't stand. He then says you're faking it to get out of surgery!!!! (I promptly fired the idiot from my "team" of doctors and told him he needed more Bedside 101 training).

Srsly. I've been pretty lucky with my docs. Though I did have 2 that I think just assumed a mouth/jaw soreness was just just continued rad burn healing, when it may be something else (third doc sent me to the "Oral Medicine" dep't at a local hospital, working on figuring it out). I know they're not dentists/oral surgeons, but they should be able to at least know when I need to go see one.
