Temador and Oligodendroglioma

My brother in law was diagnosed with an Oligodendroglioma about five years ago. He's had surgery to remove part of the tumor, and is currently receiving Temador. His last check in showed the tumor has stopped growing, but he wants it officially in remission.

I have been trying to do some research online for him, but he lives quite far from me, so I am not able to go to appointments with him to put it more in perspective for my own understanding. He has no internet access.

He is hoping to get some info on how others have done taking Temador, the dosages they received, and how long they have taken it before moving on to radiation. Any insight would be appreciated!

    My husband has a oligodenglioma Anaplastic III and has taken the temodar. It has shown to shrink what tumor is left after surgery. They want him to take this two years if he can tolerate it. Everything I have read is that this is one of the best course of action to take. As long as he can tolerate the chemo it seems to be working. One thing I have learned with this is you have to take it one day at a time and live life. My husband was diagnosed in 2003 and has had two surgeries to remove tumor, radiation, and now the chemo. Doctors are working hard to come up with new treatments.

    The doctor told my husband after 12 months they are taking him off because it could destroy the bone marrow. He is on 180 mg 21days. Has your doc mentioned anything like this to you or your husband? He was diagnosed 7/2/11 with anaplastic Olio grade 3.

    Had my husband's checkup
    Had my husband's checkup yesterday and indeed no more temador. It's been 12 months and everything has remained stable. Thank you JESUS!

    That is great news that everything is stable. We had our visit last month and everything is stable and my husband is off temodar for now. We were told that it could affect the red blood cells but, not told about the bone marrow. I will read on it because, there is always that chance they may want him to take it again. Again, what a blessing that you have received a good report. I know for myself every time we get an all clear I praise The Lord for the way He makes for us each and everyday. We don't pretend that this won't happen again but we know how Our precious Lord took hold of hands and walked with us through the valley the first time and He is always with us to give us strength and help us make wise decisions.

    I couldn't have said it better. He has a much better spirit now that he is off the temador and has a lot more energy as well.
