SWOLLEN TISSUE NEAR BACK OF WISDOM TOOTH
No bleeding or ulcer like, just white and swollen. I have also had a little ear pain.
Anyone else have a simillar issue????
Wish me luck that my ENT pushes me off to my dentist.

Abcess????????????
Hi Mike
Right after treatment for almost an entire year I dealt with a recurring abcess on a lower molar. Seems that radiation can cause lurking tooth problems to emerge from their slumber. Hoping that is your issue and you have to suffer countless trips to the dentist as I did. The appearance is somewhat white and inflamed and comes about quickly. It can get quite painful also, certainly the ear pain can be referred as all that stuff is connected. Please update us when you can.0 -

I sure hope it's just minor infection. Will be praying for a good outcome.0 -

ENT will see me on the 6th of October along with a CT/Contrast of my neck. He is not real concerned with getting me in today VS 1 week from now.
I will keep you all posted.

Man that bites!!! They love to play the waiting game. Hopefully, you will no longer be experiencing any systems by the time you go. Try gargling with salt water. See if that helps.0 -

what a PITA they are. The human species should evolve and leave these things behind as we just can't keep them clean enough to prevent decay. Had one filled last week. If it's an abcess you won't make it till the 6th as the pain will have you screaming. Why not try and get in to the dentist prior to the sixth. He/she will do an X-ray and perhaps clear the whole thing up for you. I hate waiting also and just trying to figure a way naround it?0 -

I can't believe you guys still have them and they didn't yank them before radiation. They made me get my three wisdom teeth (one never was there) and the four molars next to them removed before I started radiation. Only one really had a problem. It was cracked. In my case, it definitely was prudent to pull them, since I have had terrible problems with cavities.
Mike hope you get rid of that abcess quickly. You should call your dentist.0 -

Hope all is well and it's just an abcess (that doesn't sound good) I hope it's nothing but food stuck that is irritating it.0 -

I hope that is all it is as well.
I just remembered one other thing, and this is for all of you "Tonsillectomies" out there. I make it a daily routine to really try to over stretch my jaw and do remember when I open up real wide and hold that for a 2 count, the area close to where I had my surgery feels tight and sometimes feels like it is being pulled on too much. Maybe I just did this to myself.
P.S.
Lilwriter, I have all of the confidence in you to push through the rest of your treatment. I fully expect to eventually read "it was hard and it sucked, but I did it."

I may try later in the week. The 6th actually works good as I will be traveling allot between now and then.
Thanks for the information.
