Symtoms
Today is my two year anniversary with dancing with NED, Breast cancer.
I have been having pain for the last week on my tail bone and of course we all carry that dread with us that the beast might be back.
I did make an appt with my P.C.P but can't get in until the 4th, so I'm here to ask what might be some early symtoms.
Thanks All and have a Great weekend.

Hey Weazer, early symptoms
Hey Weazer, early symptoms are tough to pin point since they can be so many other things. For me I was anemic for many months and after a long history of unpredictable bowel function (one day loose the next constipated) I started to notice traces of blood on the toilet tissue. After about a month of that every couple days I noticed it in the stool itself (in the bowl). I made the call to my doc and told him those two symptoms and he reffered me to a gastro doc. That was it, colonoscopy and Bingo, there you have it Stage II T3 Rectal cancer. I was 46, decent health, no pain or other symptoms, just blood in stool and anemic. Depending on where a tumor may turn up there are different thing to look for. There is a long list of other symptoms but pain would not be considered early. I often use the symptom checker on Web MD website. I think it's better to be safe than sorry so it's good to know what it "possibly" could be even if it's not entirely likely.
Good luck, take care

I'm so freaked out! What could go wrong did with me, and my type was very aggressive.
And I'm just worried, I don't think I can wait till the fourth I'm trying to get ahold of my Onc.
Can't wait till the fourth:{
Thanks again.

Re:
"I did make an appt with my P.C.P but can't get in until the 4th,

We learned early on, never own a medical dictionary. (Not that
I suffer from hypochondria, you unnerstan')
There was an old adage: "Don't go looking for trouble", that
I try my best to adhere to.
It's not easy at times, since we "cancer people" have a fear that
not many "normal people" have to cope with, much less understand.
Try to relax and forget about cancer. If it's found that you have
it, then deal with it, but worrying about it in advance, offers
nothing in return.
In fact.... "they" say, that stress can be a contributing factor!
I'm sure it can, since we don't eat right when we're stressed,
and smoke/'drink more (hic), and it's all a contributing factor
to ill health.
Relax...... R e l a x.... and see if you really do have a problem
before you begin worrying about "curing it".
Better health to you,

One symptom I had and didn't realize it was anything important was the feeling that I hadn't completed a bowel movement. I would have just gone and would feel like there was more that hadn't been "expressed."
*hugs*
Gail
I had had that my entire life and still do.
Very frustrating.
I am sure it is because of my poor diet, not enough fruit and veggies.

Inform your physician of all nuances, all irregularities that you
managed to take notice of..... They all mean something to the
one that diagnosis your symptoms. We have found that writing
things down prior to an office visit, helps greatly!
By all means, don't go worrying about things that have not
been proven yet!
It's not "the end of the world" until you see it on MSNBC!
Best hopes for you

What a cute doggie!!! So pet, love and get the love in return from that lovely little doggie, and don't stress about your doc appointment.
I've never heard of someone on this sight mention that it was their tailbone that was the precursor to their colon cancer diagnosis. RELAX, pet your beautiful doggie and no worries for the moment.
Please do though, let us know what your Doctor said will you?
Always hoping for the best,
Winter Marie
Oh, by the way, call your doc's office back up, let them know that you are S T R E S S E D and if they have any cancellations at all to call you immediately so that you can get in sooner and have a little more peace of mind, or stopping by the office with a box of chocolates for the receptionist/booker of appointments while asking the above would probably be even better advice for a quicker appointment...just a thought
Each Christmas I give the office staff scented candles, after my son's wedding I brought in wine and champagne from it for all the staff, Halloween I bring a caldron of candy, I get appointments pretty darn quick, catching flies with honey and all that0 -

Thank You All,
I went to see my Onc this morning, I almost cancelled thinking I'm just freaking out, however they were so kind to accomodate me on such short notice, I decided too go.
I'm still in pain and have'nt a clue why.
My Doc, ordered bone scan, and I was due for my blood work so did that also.
He made me feel much better and told me not too worry about feeling scared when something strange goes on with my body, always to feel free to come in.
So I am glad that I went in and not have to wait.
Thank You all, I wish you the Best in treatment and recovery.

Hey, Karie.
I'm so glad you're feeling more calm. And I'm REALLY happy you went to see the oncologist! Let us know!
