Gaseous smell?

I finished my chemo treatment (R-EPOCH)on May 13. For quite some time certain foods tasted quite funny - eggs, some meats, popcorn). I've noticed that has started to go away, but now I constantly smell a gaseous scent. It is the same smell that you typically notice in your garage if the door has been closed for a while. Wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

    Hi Susan
I just finished cycle 5 of 6 of R-EPOCH and haven't noticed anything.
Hopefully others can share their experiences.

You might want to discuss it with your doctor also if you haven't already.
Do you experience this all the time/everywhere? If not, you might try
to find out if there is something triggering it.

I did a little research and some post chemo patients discuss having
heightened senses of smell/taste in addition to weirdness.

    Sorry I couldn't help much.

    Thanks Jim,

    Thanks Jim,

I went out of town shortly after posting this and am just now getting back in to the swing of things. I think it must have been a heightened sense of smell - but it was weird that only certain scents were affected. I smelled the gas smell all the time, unless something else new triggered it - - coffee brewing was another one that was so strong it was putrid and that "grease" smell that is unique to gas stations and convenience stores. I think it is all behind me now. The scents aren't continuous now, but every once in a while a strong stench will get to me. Good news is I think it is getting better.

Good luck with your R-EPOCH treatment. I'm 5 months removed from my last treatment so if there is anything I can do to help you navigate the end of the treatment let me know!
