Kidney Cancer and Agent Orange

Hi all, I am new to the group but share all of your pain.

I have a question for whomever might be of assistance. I served in Viet Nam in 66-67 and then in 2000 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had my left kidney removed. I then filed a claim with the VA but was denied because they don't cover those kinds of cancer. Further research showed that if I could find a doctor that would write a letter for me stating "that my kidney cancer could be as likely as not caused by agent orange exposure", then I might have a better chance for my claim. So far none of my local doctors will sign such a document. I think they are worried about possibly being controversial or maybe over-extending themselves into an area that they don't have a lot of knowledge of, or maybe even just don't want to be bothered by a follow-up questionare from the VA. Anyway I would like to know if anyone out there has ever had any success in such a situation or that might know of some doctors that aren't afraid to support such a claim. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

    My husband passed away on July 8, 2011 from kidney cancer. Her served in Viet Nam from 67 through 68. He had his right kidney removed 3/1/08 with no previous signs of this disease. In April 2010, a ct scan determined it had spread to the pleural of his lung. The disease progressed very rapidly in spite of several different types of targeted therapies and eventually radiation. He never smoked, did not have high blood pressure, nor a diabetic. Both his parents are alive and healthy (87 and 91). Both my husband and I as well as his doctors attribute this cancer to his exposure to agent orange. I have filed a claim on his behalf, but have not heard anything. Any advise? Thanks
