Abstract from 17th International European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) Meeting, going on right now:

“HE4 As Prognostic Marker In Endometrial Cancer”

The HE4 (human epididymis protein4) has been shown to have the potential to differentiate between benign endometrial disease and endometrial cancer. The data presented will provide evidence that the HE4 serum levels are an independent prognostic markers for endometrial cancer patients.

    Wondering why HE4 is not routinely used
    Everything I have read indicates that it is more reliable than the CA-125 and, more important, more specific to endometrial cancer.

    I have googled to try to find out the comparative costs and so far I can't find anything. Will keep looking.

    I LOVE this painting....I believe this is the one I had gotten for my dear friend who is a penguin nut!

    Lab checks
    I did find a couple of independent labs that gave a prices for CA 125 ranging from 65.00 to 148.00 (of course, these may be conducted in someone's garage!). I couldn't find any prices on He4.

    I get HE4 tests routinely
    Last year I posted a thread on this topic. There was research that cited exactly this. I asked my doc to do the he4 and he (at first) said there was no research. I showed him the research and since then I get BOTH tests (he4 +ca125)routinely - they typically go up and down at same time.
