staying calm question for you re: pleurodesis
Mom is so scared to go back and get the other one done. It will not be sched. til it fills with fluid again. Poor Mom like she hasn't been through enough like I have informed you, they discharged her on sat. morn. with no pain meds just tylenol so she finally got script today after 3nights of misery sleeping. (Doc appologized for his nurse practioner not getting a sript for her.)
Also how soon did you feel better b/c she still is somewhat winded walking up the stairs etc...
Thanks for all your help.

Sleepless, sorry I took so long to answer!
I only had one lung done (no surgery, just the pleurodesis), and I may be exactly the wrong person to ask about getting winded, as I also have emphysema and get out of breath pretty frequently After all tubes were finally removed the pain subsided pretty fast - maybe the worst part was cutting down on the Vicodin I had been taking for the pain!
I'm sorry I'm not being much help, here!

We had spoken awhile ago, maybe you could help me understand what Mom is feeling?
Had WBR back in 1/11 on line 3 chemo and we have spoken about her recent visit in the hospital with her lungs.
She slowly doesn't remember things, at times frail, by late afternoon times on the phone you could barely understand her like her lips aren't even moving she's so tired, her writing looks like she's 90 something, cant find things that are right in front of her and now she's just getting very irretable.
I know she lost faith in her lung surgeon and hearing not very good things lately about the hospital etc...so thats not helping the morel.
I just want to try to understand what she is feeling and help her. We talk on the phone everyday sometimes for hours or im at her house driving her everywhere to doctors or just errands.
Mom turned 61 in August, young like you and the rest of all of them.
Continuing to be her biggest cheerleader just trying to grasp it all thats all.
Thanks again for all your help0 -

The most important thing is to be patient with your mom, people getting mad because she can't hear well (I lost some hearing to WBR) or remember things feels like a personal attack. I'm sure she is very scared!
My handwriting, too, has deteriorated, I would say "thank goodness for keyboards" but my typing has suffered, too. I WILL say the backspace key is my best friend! Does she use a computer at all?
Losing things that are right there is a problem I have too - my son will invariably find the item immediately, I can only really urge patience, sleepless - there is a possibility that her memory will improve as she improves. Meanwhile, the best things that were said to me were that "it will all be okay", and "I will always be there for you".
Best of luck,

Thanks for you advice its so hard on everybody, it has changed not only her life but all of ours and it just pains me to see my 11 yr old cry alot because of listening or seeing her grandma like this. I guess at times im having my pitty party too...
She does use the computer not as much as she use to I think because its down stairs and its to much work and gets her winded.
Sometimes I say relaz and take a deep breathe and she just looks at me like are you crazy I cant...its just always little things like that, I just always have to remember to think before I say something thats all.
Thanks again
You know your going to here from me now and again right...LOL
