Xeloda has run it's course

Had a CT scan on Tuesday and had an appt. with my oncologist this morning and the news was not real good. There is now a spot in my liver and some activity again in the esop. Time to look at changes she says to me. After an hour plus conversation, I am coming off Xeloda and looking at starting on Trexatol and if the test on my original tumor tissue is whatever it needs to be then I may get a few rounds of HER2. Emotionally I am little off kilter but overall I am fine. I have had 17 months with no bimps in the road and feel blessed for that. Have had several great vacations and am greatful for that. As all of you are aware, at some point, reguardless of what we do stage iv's move on and we have to accept that fact. Please remember me in your prayers as I forge ahead. Sam

    Sorry to Hear
    Sam,

Sorry to hear the bad news. Some days when I read these posts I'm encouraged by the good news people have and other days when I read the bad news reports, it's so disheartening. Thank God for the 17 months of "normalcy", if you can call it that, but your report just serves as a reminder of how precious life is and I guess in a weird way we're blessed to be able to take it one day at a time and fully enjoy each day. So many days of my life I took for granted that there would always be a tomorrow and I wasted so many opportunities, but after being diagnosed with EC, no more.......I try to live each day to the fullest and leave it in God's hands. Wishing you the best of luck for any future treatment and I'll continue to remember you in my prayers.

    So sorry
    Sam --

I'm sorry to hear that your news was not good. People with EC have scanxiety for good reason. I'm glad that you've had 17 good month making lasting memories. You'll be in my prayers as you start the new treatment course. May you be blessed with another 17 (or more) enjoyable months!

now I feel like a plagiarist!
First, Michael - damn! I just used that quote in another thread and now I feel like a plagiarist! But I guess no matter how may times it's said, it's still rings true.

Michael's post pretty much conveyed everything I feel. Sam, I will keep you (and all the folks here) in my thoughts and prayers every day. I don't think hoping for a miracle is terrible-- but maybe that's the naive newbie in me. Thinking of you tonight and hoping the new regiment helps.

    Praying Louder for you
Sorry to hear the scan results, Sam. I've followed your posts and even made sure to point them out to a very quiet Stage IV caregiver I know that reads here often, but seldom comments.

I hope the new chemo regiment is effective and tolerable for you. Peace and Prayers.....

    extra prayers...
    Sam,
I am sorry to hear you got some bad news. That just means that the next news you get will be good. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I will be praying for you to have 17 MORE months without any worse incidents and try to take it as it comes. I know this beast will sooner or later get to the best of us. I wish I had words to help comfort but know that we all do get it and know exactly how you feel and what this does inside to hear the news.

I will be thinking about you and waiting for your next post. There can always be another vacation too. You are allowed.

    God Bless All of You
I have just returned from a long weekend to DC for a 911 service. It was very moving and I am thankful I was able to make the trip. I am in a little better shape today than last week. This is helped in part due to the fact that my life partner has come home for a few weeks to help me thru this time. He works away from our home. I am always better when he is here. Thank all of you for your post and encouragement. And thank you William for the private e-mail. The last time I went to have the porta cath but in it was a mess and I ended up in the hospital for 4 days. Pray this doesn't happen this time. I am actully more stressed over this procedure than starting back into IV chemo. I will do my best to keep you updated on progress. Prayers for all of us. Sam

I'm newer to the site but reading up on as many posts as possible. Very sorry to hear about the new test results. My mom just got diagnosed with the Squamous Cell T3N2M0 so I'm in the beginning stages of caregiving and trying to get through this with her. I'm saying alot of prayers lately, for her and those who I've met here. I will also pray that you have good response with your treatment (hopefully manageable side effects. Take care
