    Will you need more surgery?
Will you need more surgery? I saw my surgeon last 4 weeks after surgery and was not told I would have to come back. I really have no reason to as I had double mastectomy and at this point no need for more surgery. If I choose reconstruction I will need a plastic surgeon.

I have a follow up visit
I have a follow up visit this month with my breast surgeon. Six months post op, I was told at the time of my last visit that I will be seeing him every six months for a little bit yet. I'm okay with that, since he's the specialist he will be able to detect things I don't see or feel. But after the first couple of years post cancer, I would imagine he will cut the strings to me.

I work in the office of my
I work in the office of my surgeon. She did my surgery, I had to get more surgery to get clear margins and got my port put in at that time. I had one follow up and I didn't have to see her again until my port was to be removed. I still see my onc every 3 months. For the hospital where i work, it is the norm to get the surgery, a follow up and that's it. The onc is the one who keeps seeing me. I don't know if you had chemo or not. I had rads also, and don't see the rad dr. anymore either, just the onc.

Last time I saw my Surgeon -
he told me he never wants to see me again approx 18 mths post surgery. YUP but he wasn't the first one who told me that - Rads doctor told me he never wanted to see me again about 12 mths post rads. The only ones that still want to see me now are my Chemo Dr every 6 mths but only because I'm on Femara and my PA who I see every 6 months too for everything else. (I don't have a Gyn.)

I don't see why you should need to see a surgeon unless the others find something to check out.

    Just my thoughts.

    Drs., drs. and drs.
I think we get so use to having drs., and being sent to this one, and that one, that we feel a little odd if we don't have a dr. somewhere in the future. It's like we have to have one on -standby.

I had a great surgeon, but I hope I don't have to see that man again.

This is so sad, but I have more drs. #s in my phone than friends.

I am still seeing my surgeon
I am still seeing my surgeon because I don't have an oncologist. My breast surgeon diagnosed me, so he is my primary. Since I didn't need chemo I have only him and my rads oncologist. I was told that if I had a regular oncologist I would most likely drop my surgeon soon.

    Not Sure of the Situation
I saw my surgeon 3 months after surgery again at 6 months and have a follow up for 12 months. He said I should see him every 6 months for the next few years. He also told me that I should be seeing one of my doctors every 3 months for the marker test or scan (normally my onc). I don't know if this is the normal practice but do really feel I have been fortunate with the doctors that have helped me through this journey.

    Surgeons
Surgeons often specialize in some area. You might never need a breast surgeon again. My last surgeon for a lung biopsy, I used a thoracic surgeon recommended by my oncologist. In fact, they made the appointment for me. I used a general surgeon who removed a tumor in the axilla, this one I choose myself.

I have had a lot of surgeries and many were specialist in their field.

When and if you need a surgeon, you will either use the doctor you consulted or if it is related to breast cancer your oncologist will suggest one and should arrangements for you.

    A Taste of Heaven
I had 5 doctors appointment in the past 3 weeks, I have 2 more to go, so in all seven doctors. One is my primary, three of the others are specialist that I see on an ongoing basis. The three left over, I see when I need to for their specialty which is more often than I wish.

My vision of heaven would be that they would all say to me, "your cured" and there is no need for me to ever see you again". Won't happen.

    Best to you Ms. Sunshine,
