I know
I know it's tough when you see behavior changes in people after they know we have cancer. I truly do believe that people just don't know what to say or how to deal with it. Sometimes I think about bringing it to their attention and then realize it likely wouldn't help matters.
Earlier this summer when I was still needing to wear a mask when I went out in public (I had a stem cell transplant and my immune system was compromised) I went shopping. There was a man standing way behind me at the checkout acting like I had the plague. I just about turned around and said it's NOT me who has the problem....it's you. LOL
Do the best you can not to let it get to you honey. Maybe you could just say I have cancer people...I am not contagious and smile and walk away.
Take heart, it will get better!

So young
Hi,
I read your Bio page and I can't imagine how hard it is to be so young dealing with cancer. Try not to pay attention to what others around you are acting like. I know it's easier said than done, but they arn't worth the stress. Hold your head high and remember most people arn't being rude on purpose, it's more that they just don't know how to deal with their thoughts when seeing someone with cancer. I think it just scares them. Be strong, and I'll keep you in my prayers. Much love....Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10) age 60.0 -

Survivor
Jordynn,
Yeah!!! You are a survivor! Welcome to the greatest club there is (I'm a 3 1/2 month remission survivor myself). Hold your head up high and as hard as it is try to ignore the ignorance and always remember that you are loved and still needed here. Don't let ANYONE take away your sense of who you are, or how important you are. I know it's hard (especially at first with no hair), but if they are treating you that way it's because they are missing some important character trait and are not worth being friends with or even spending time with.
Keep on getting stronger and believing in yourself!

Homework assignment
I don't think you can fix it sweetheart.
Try not to let it get you down. You survived
cancer and all that goes along with it, this is nothing.
If it were me at your age, I'd probably look them straight
in the eye and say "Kiss my (homework) ASSignment" .
Hang in there. You're tough and we're all proud of you.
(Hope you don't mind my humor. I just refuse to be so
serious all the time.)
Hugs,
Jim0
