One year anniversary

Just got home after having cocktails with my ENT who found my cancer one year ago today! He is quite the treat, kind but very direct. About 10 years younger than me. During our anniversary celebration tonight he let it slip that a year ago he thought I was a goner with how huge my mass was...I found the hair on my arms stood straight up.
I am very lucky that not only am I alive but doing so well after treatments ended. I have very little dry mouth, can eat alot of what I want and am gaining some of the weight back that I lost.
I thanked him for his diagnosis, his candor and his steering me to the James at OSU Cancer Hospital.
This beast called cancer, can be beaten...I am living proof (so far)!!!
Peace

    Happy Anniversary, Cookie!
    Here's to MORE anniversaries!

    Deb

p.s. My ENT was pretty sure I was a goner too, but he never told me. He only told my G.P., who had called him with questions. Thank goodness for experienced Radiation and Chemo Oncologists, who have a whole lot better idea about the effectiveness of their treatments!

My husband and I live east
My husband and I live east of Columbus and also went to the James. They really do save lives there. We had Ozzer and Siddiqui. My husband has not yet hit a year but we know because of the Drs at OSU James we will see a year and then some. I am so glad you are doing well. Gives me hope : )

    Siddiqui
Wow! my docs were Teknos (but I turned down the surgery), Nekki for chemo and my love....Dr. Siddiqui! I adore that doc. He had just come to the James from Detroit a few months before my treatment. I was scheduled with a different doc but then they switched it to him and I am so glad.
My friends threw me a benefit in March and he and his family drove all 80 some miles one way to come and make an appearance and this was with him on call! His dedication and loving manner won my heart and I know saved my life.
So great to hear someone else went to the James and had my fave doc.
BTW I loved some of the techs too who did my 35 radiation treatments. I always try and see them when I go for my follow ups.
Tell your husband to stay strong and that goes for you also. Are you going to the survivors shindig on the 18th on Olentangy River Road? If so, we should meet!!!!
    Peace,

    GOOD FOR YOU
Nancy, this is great news. I will hit my one year mark post TX on October 20th. Maybe I will invite my ENT out for a drink VS just getting the news in the little white room.

    Best!!
