Stay away from him. Wash
Stay away from him. Wash hands, wash, wash, wash. Wipe down doorknobs, faucets. . anything that he touches. My son was sick (he is an adult) most of the time I was having radiation last year, he and his family lived with us. I was crazy about following these rules. You might even get a mask. We needed to visit a family member in the hospital yesterday. I was planning to ask for a mask but there they were, right as you walked in, hand sanitizer, gloves and masks. I was not going to get anything walking in the halls on in the elevator or in his room, he really has not bee diagnosed yet and they put him on an antibiotic. Good luck. Get Well. Ask for help, neighbors, friends, family.0 -
Not much to add to what she
Not much to add to what she said. I am hoping you won't get sick. That is truly miserable when you are ill and you have been the caregiver. Don't forget to take care of yourself too. You are probably run down. Feel better soon, sweetie.0 -
My own experience...
Actually, we were quite concerned of catching something also.
But I never did, even though I was exposed to a few people that had colds or other things going on...hospital or cancer center waiting areas are notoriuos...
Anyways, as ironic as it was...I didn't catch a cold or get sick for over two years post treatment.
Best,

LOL, I just think that even though the treatment lowered my immune system, it killed every germ in my body and those that I was exposed to, LOL....
You might have something there. When I went back to work with the little germs, oops children in January, I should have gotten very ill. Coughing, sneezing (the children) and I only got one sinus infection, probably due to my allergies. By the way, the children in my class have the cleanest hands and know to cough and sneeze into their sleeve.0 -
I sent him to his parents
I sent him to his parents house and got lysol spray and wipes. I also got some masks from the clinic in the store. I am going to stay home and clean while he is gone then going back to bed. I am going to wash the bedding and sleep on the couch tonight. He still has thrush and the terrible mocous....can't imagine how miserable he would be with that and a cold. He is on antibiotics so I am hopeful that will help.Thank you everyone for your input : ) wish me luck!0 -

Unfortunately, the antibiotics will only work on a bacterial infection, not a viral infection or a cold. Darn it!!!
You might also try taking Cold-Eeze. They can be found in almost any pharmacy or store and are quite effective when taken properly. I started getting a cold about 4 years ago and I started taking them immediately. Was I ever surprised when the cold was stopped dead in its tracks.
Good luck!

She is correct stay away, my wife got the flu one time and I had to stay as far away as I could for her, just glad it did not last long.

My brother was so ill all the time when we were kids, because of our fanconi anemia, he needed transfusions all the time. If I got sick, I was never allowed to stay home. They would ship me off to a relatives house. Which kinda sucked, because I always wanted my own bed, blanket and pillow when I was sick, but he was so sick, a cold or flu could have killed him.
When he had his bone marrow treatment we had to scrub like going into surgery, then suit up in full scrubs and masks, etc. Then in the hospital his bed was against a wall that had air blowing continually away from him, so that we wouldn't give him any germs.0
