Triple Negative Breast Cancer
There are a lot of women on this Board who have TNBC - I happen to be one of them. I found the single best source of information to be the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation website: www.tnbcfoundation.org
I hope this gives you a good start.

Hi Lady Di
I have triple negative breast cancer and I agree with Irene that the triple negative breast cancer organization is an excellent source of accurate info. Please let me know if you have any specific questions. I was diagnosed 9/17/10 as a stage IIa and I've been through several surgeries and chemotherapy. It was tough but do-able and I'm doing very well now.
Take care,

Me too
I was diagnosed with TNBC in 2008 and had a mastectomy, but no radiation or chemo. Then it came back exactly 2 years later under my mastectomy scar, Stage 3C. I had chemo, more surgery (to remove implant and 14 lymph nodes), then radiation. I was finished in November and am doing well at this point.
I was told at one point on this board to stay away from the TNBC board, as it makes it sound too scary, so I never go there.
Hugs,

Whatcha want to know? I was diagnosed in 2009 TNBC stage 3. Had 18 rounds of chemo and a double mastectomy with no reconstruction.0 -
Triple Negative Breast Cancer Explained
From the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation - www.tnbcfoundation.org
Understanding Triple Negative Breast Cancer
It is now commonly understood that breast cancer is not one form of cancer, but many different "subtypes" of cancer. These subtypes of breast cancer are generally diagnosed based upon the presence, or lack of, three "receptors" known to fuel most breast cancers: estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). The most successful treatments for breast cancer target these receptors.
Unfortunately, none of these receptors are found in women with triple negative breast cancer. In other words, a triple negative breast cancer diagnosis means that the offending tumor is estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative and HER2-negative, thus giving rise to the name "triple negative breast cancer." On a positive note, this type of breast cancer is typically responsive to chemotherapy. Because of its triple negative status, however, triple negative tumors generally do not respond to receptor targeted treatments. Depending on the stage of its diagnosis, triple negative breast cancer can be particularly aggressive, and more likely to recur than other subtypes of breast cancer.0 -

TNBC
My wife was diagnosed with TNBC in January of this year. That began the same process of knowledge-gathering and decision making which you addressed here. She just had DIEP FLAP reconstructive surgery in San Antonio two weeks ago and is feeling great. She feels like her new breast has put this episode behind her. My advice for everyone:
1. Get informed, online and local sources
2. Get at least 2-3 opinions on each specialist. Never put your faith in one doctor.
3. Have a person with you at all dr. appointments taking copious notes, after preparing for each visit with a list of questions.
4. Make decisions with confidence. If you do 1-3 above, you will know more than any one dr. about YOUR condition.

TNBC site
It is a good source. I particularly appreciate the fact that there are a lot of articles related to research on TNBC. In this way I can self advocate for matters related to the treatment of TNBC and let those treating me know that I am informed so they can't let my care slide. I come here for the support though. The info seems scary to some. I am able to be quite objective for a cancer patient. I think it is because I have always wanted to know the facts. Just the facts mam. I also grew up with 7 brothers so I was trained early on to work with facts rather than emotions.0
