salty taste

I know that people have talked about salty taste on this site but my question is, Has anyone had it taste like ocean water and make you sick? Also, is there something to rinse with that lessens it? Jim has tried filtered water, bottled water, all brands and they all are very salty. He has also tried cold and room temp. He has also had alot of nausea this week (back on the Zofran) and had a lot of blood in his sinus discharge. He was treated for BOT stage 4 and is 13 days out.

Thanks for any info.

Debbie

    Yep Salty taste

The only water I was able to drink that did not have the salt taste was Dasani, I have no idea why. Even the pure so called bottle water was salty to me, I was lucky my wife told me to try Dasani or I would have died of dehydration. He also needs to get on a Sinus Rinse as soon as he can but ask the ENT first, I use NeilMed twice a day in the morning and before I go to bed at night, all part of my new normal.

    Wishing you well

    Salty Taste
I never really found anything that worked well...all water tasted like sweat to me...

I rinsed and spit with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and that helped keep my mouth fresh feeling anyways.

    Best,

    Yep, everything tasted salty
Yep, everything tasted salty and also, everything burned very badly for me. About two weeks after was when the nausea kicked in very badly for me. That is when I started not to be able to keep anything in my stomach. I maintained my weight all through radiation. It was after that I lost the almost 40 lbs.

Hope he starts feeling better soon.

    Love handles
Well he is getting his love handles back so that is good. At least he is keeping the tube feedings down. It is good to know that it is just another pesky side effect that will go away eventually.

    Thanks for the help.

    Pit-bull
Her name is Harley she is the best dog in the world. when I was going through treatment she would tip toe up to me and lay her head on my stomach and just stay there for hours until I started feeling better. I was amazed because I told my kids don’t ever bring pit-bulls around me, but I find now it is all in the way you treat them that can make them good or bad. She is getting up in age now 10 years old a few months ago you can see the gray around her nose.

    Thanks

    Salty taste.
It took quite a while to dissapate for me. It is better, but I still cannot add any salt to food, and I cannot eat any pre made or processed foods. It really hurts my tongue.

I regained "sweet" first. So, I found shakes went down better for me. Other things that worked were, bananas, avocado, Amish Macaroni Salad (which is sweeter. I would buy it in a container at the store, but that might just be a Pennsylvania food, idk), Carrot and White Bean soup, Sweet Potato, squash, and I also noticed that sour cream added to some foods can cut the burn and saltiness. I tend to make my own chicken stock, and if I do use a store bought stock, I use the low sodium, and more often than not, I also cut it with water.
