Carlene sent me a facebook message that Kathleen made it through her surgery and is fine. I'm sure she's in a world of discomfort, but she's doing good so far.
Val: I had my radioembolism surgery last Friday and was released from the hospital after 10 hours. If you are strong enough and there are no complications, radioembolism can be an outpatient procedure. I was pretty miserable the first couple of days with dry heaves and my torso felt like a bomb went off in there. But each day it got easier and I kept doing what I was instructed (drinking 64 oz. water daily, eating something small every few hours no matter how disgusting it tasted to me or how uncomfortable it felt when it went down, taking my ga-zillion post-surgery pills). And now, a week out, I am about 85% my old self again. I have 3 more days of isolation due to my radioactivity, and at the end of those 3 days I expect to resume my busy life. I am optimistic that I have bought myself some more time on this beautiful earth.0 -

Welcome back from the other side! This all sounds sooooooo good! Looks like you bought yourself some significant time with this, Kathleen. I know you are probably hurting and weak, but I also know you'll do everything they tell you to do, and each day move closer to full recovery. So happy!0 -

So happy to hear Kathleen is doing fine--it must have seemed like the best Christmas gift EVER to come out of anesthesia and see your colon was still intact! I hope you don't have the horrid NG tube or if you do, it is gone ASAP...may you fart and poop soon!
Glad to hear Linda's update, too. You went thru hell (again) and I'm sure it's gonna be worth it.
(((hugs to all)))

so happy you are both doing so well. It is reassuring to hear that recurrance can be handled and it is not the end of the line. You are both in my thoughts.
