radiation directly to liver
That was my morning. What I find comforting is that my husbands morning has been just fine. He is at work actually having a great time. Just spoke with him. Amazing. I can't get myself to go into public cause my eyes are swollen and my face is all red.
Thank you all for your so many helpful tips and advice. I hope to be here a while and learn as much as I can.

Jackie,
Just to clarify - he
Jackie,
Just to clarify - he was told he could not have the infusion of radiation to the liver? My husband has 7 + spots and one right by the portal vein and he had the infusion. He was not a candidate for external beam radiation because he had multiple spots and the one spot was so close to the main vessel. The infusion (SIR spheres) is when a small incision is made in the groin, a catheter is fed thru there up to the liver and millions of bead with radiation in them are infused into one lobe of the liver at a time and the other lobe about 4-6 weeks later. The purpose is stabilize the liver to focus on other areas that may be affected. Maybe the adrenal gland made it not an option ? . . . .
I remember the beginning times of diagnosis - they are difficult days. Stay focused on today and what needs to be done for your husband, you, and your family - over time that will give you strength

I spoke with the nurse, she said that MSKKCC is doing the procedure. then said no he wouldn't be a candidate. OK, I need to read up on this and speak with the doctor and then get another opinion.
Thank you. Whitney

When is cancer stable at stage 4? Is it after chemo and no new cancer shows up?
I was trying to research and make phone calls as I had time to myself. So, I decide to take a xanex to help me stay calm. Instead I have a total and complete breakdown. I then take another half and continue to have a breakdown. So, I think I will give up on the pills since they don't seem to work.
I have so much to learn, and I am so afraid of missing things.

Take a deep breath
Hi Jackie
Take a deep breath your doing brilliantly, yes there is a lot to learn, and yes there are days that all we seem to do is breakdown (thats allowed), one step at a time, I think that at stage iv it is stable when the darn thing ain't growing, hopefully after the Chemo there should be a period of relative calm, not always but that is the hope.
Take care of yourself.
