ok on 8/24 I posted a problem I had with my port and all said never heard of it... well today I went and seen the surgeon and he too said never heard of it but he turned my port around in my chest and told me( and yes this is a quote) if it does it again then just turn it around yourself and it will be fine. Please let me know if I should be concerned...I am scared

I can see why you would be concerned
if the port is flipping around...can you ask your surgeon for more information about what is going on with it?

I went back to read your previous post. OMG! Now I remember...but I never heard of this happening. I have a powerport also, the nobs have always stayed straight out the way they should. My health ins. has a nurse line which I have called many times with questions.Does your insurance Co. have a nurse line? I wonder if they can tell you anything. Or call the manufacture of power port. I believe there is 800 # in the information that was given at time it was put in. Perhaps they can shed light on what is happening. Other than that I just don't know, but I would make calls.
    I hope this helped.

    Doesn't seem right to me....
I had a powerport and it was snug in place the entire year. I really don't think it should be moving on you at all but I'm not a doctor. My hunch is that when they put it in, they didn't stitch it in place or they made the pouch too big, not really sure how they keep the port from moving.

You've gotten good advice above, and I agree, I would make some phone calls.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

    This does seem very unusual
For me, having the port was creepy enough--but the thought of it moving around and flipping--I'd be freaked out too. I'm hoping you can get an answer soon and get this problem fixed.

    Let us know.

My port was in for over a year and it never flipped. I'd never heard of this before your original post.

    Over 2 yrs
My port has been in 2 years, 1 week (2 yrs, 51 weeks to go) and it doesn't play "flip-flops". If it did I'd definately be checking on it ASAP!

    Questions
In you other thread, you say it'd been in 2 months then. When it was "down-side" up for a blood draw, you just grabbed it and turned it over? Have you been doing this for the entire time of use or is it new? If all of a sudden mine was down-side up there is no way I would just reach over and turn it up-side up - I'd be concerned about 'kinking' the tubing into vein among a lot of other 'things'.

    Port
I had a problem with my port from the get-go and never really got a satisfactory answer. It hurt the entire time (Oct. 2009-March 2011). It did move from it's original position which made it more difficult to access, the nurse manager usually handled me during chemo and Herceptin. I asked for the area to be deadened with a freeze spray, hardly felt the needle stick.

    power port
I have a power port with the nubs. It was really sore when it was first put in. My doctor said it was due to it being sewn into the muscle. Maybe for some reason your's isn't sewn to anything and that's why it is flipping. Just a thought....

    Good luck!
