Give Your Children a BIG Hug tonight......

I don't comment very often but I do read daily and you guys are always in my thoughts and imprinted on my heart. Sadness fills my heart tonight as I am grieving the loss of my nieces son. His name was Dylan Frick and was only 10 years old. He passed away from this horrible disease (brainstem glioma)two weeeks ago. I find that when I have to face death of a member here on the board or in my family I push it away until suddenly emotions overwhelm me. Two weeks have passed and now his death is just hitting me and it hurts my heart for such a young person to be taken away from his family. I realized that I've always felt that I was too young for this disease but HELLO he was just 10!!! what hurts me the most is I never really got the chance to met him. My niece is only 5 months older than me and we were close as children but when we became adults we never saw each other. It's so sad but that's how my family is, we just aren't very close. Anyways, I don't know how my niece is handling this but she is being so strong. I admire her. So in Dylans honor please hold your children tight, tell them you love them. I wanted to post an article that was posted in Dylans hometown. Dylan loved legos and my niece Jennifer and her husband Josh wanted to make his service a celebration of life that would honor his passion for legos. PS: In Honor of Dylan my niece is trying to collect lego sets to donate to children that are fighting cancer. Here is the link to that story which also includes a beautiful picture of Dylan with his little sister.

It's bad enough that we have to deal with cancer, but for children to have to battle it and lose their lives at such a young age is just heartbreaking.

My condolences on the loss of Dylan and the Lego project sounds like a terrific endeavor of rememberance and be of much comfort to others.

    So sorry Melissa...I held on
So sorry Melissa...I held on to my son Andrew (he's 12) for a moment in his room and looked around...at all the legos on shelves on every wall. Honoring your nephew my dear and blessings to you and your family!

    Love, Gail
