Science-Based Medicine Site

I've been looking at an information website lately, called Science-Based Medicine. Here's a brief excerpt from the "About SBM" intro:

"Science-Based Medicine is dedicated to evaluating medical treatments and products of interest to the public in a scientific light, and promoting the highest standards and traditions of science in health care. Online information about alternative medicine is overwhelmingly credulous and uncritical, and even mainstream media and some medical schools have bought into the hype and failed to ask the hard questions.

We provide a much needed “alternative” perspective — the scientific perspective."

The range of topics runs from Acupuncture to Vaccines and Veterinary Medicine, with stops like Herbs and Supplements, Health Fraud, Cancer, Dentistry, and Book and Movie Reviews, among others. I looked for reviews on the China Study which I'm finally reading. Many times an article by one of the contributing editors will be the basis of forum discussions. All by some of the most respected names in research and medicine. The public is invited to read, but can't post. Not light reading, but a patient layman or woman can appreciate it.

    Actually, this was how I kept myself entertained during treatment. This was one of the sites I read every day. Lots of good stuff about cancer on there. A good starting point is to read the review written about Suzanne Sommers' book about her breast cancer experience.

    I think the public may be allowed to post in the comments section - although I never tried. Some of the comments are themselves fairly technical and lengthy.
