Possible minor heart damage?

I had my 6 month check-up with my primary doc and mentioned to her that I had a few episodes of chest pain that almost scared me into an ER visit but I waited it out and it must have just been heartburn. She had her nurse do an EKG and she didn't like the results so I found myself seeing a cardiologist the next day. His nurse did another EKG and it too was abnormal so I am scheduled for an echo on Aug. 31st. Fortunately there is no indication that I had a heart attack but I'm glad I will be getting an echo because I had to get one before starting chemo and I was concerned that they didn't do one after chemo. My cancer was triple negative so ACT was my chemo cocktail. I hope I can get my onc to give me a straight yes or no answer when asked if the chemo damaged my heart. If anyone else has had similar experiences I would appreciate you sharing info with me.
Thanks!

Jamie, Some chemo does
Jamie, Some chemo does effect the heart. I already had heart blockage when I was dxed with bc so I was limited on what chemo I could take. I have had 2 episodes with my heart since but no one is saying that chemo weakened my heart. Good that you had an echo before chemo, now it can be compared. Dr. should be able to tell if there is any heart damage. Please keep us posted and let us know whats going on. Hoping and praying the best for you.0 -
I had trouble, too....
After carboplatin for my rectal cancer, I had ACT 6 months later for the BC...the Adriamycin and the carboplatin can cause trouble...
So, my 4th AC was skipped.
4 years after all chemo was done, I went to the cardiologist for a checkup, and he gave my heart an 'A'....so it was temporary...hope yours is the same..
Hugs, kathi0
