Hi all, i am feeling down today. My pain had been really decreasing, even had one or two normal days pain free. Don't know if it is me over doing it, doing more without the nerve block shots and cortisone, etc etc. My scar tissue feels just awful tight, pinches, pulls, etc. My old pain stuff is back...I called the pain clinic yesterday, they got back to me today, they had an opening next weds but we were going to be out of town. i told brian about it when he came in the house and he said, we will drive back for your appt (i said too much gas money but he said i need the shots). by the time i called back the appt was filled. more disappointment. so its about 2.5 weeks til i get my shots. still have pt two days a week. I have been taking tramadol seems to work better than vicodin this time around at at least taming it down a little. I know now i am not stuck like this like before i found my awesome pain team!!!
I lost four lbs too.
I am tired and down. but still doing things around teh house, garden is off limits for a few days :(, still took the dog for a walk today.
i am blue...

    So sorry to hear..
I think most of us go through some of the same things. Depression and pain. I don't know what to tell you as I had rads and no chemo. It has taken me longer than most people to really feel better even ones that had Chemo were faster. We are all so different. I know it helps me to talk with people. Only my husband has been there for me. My daughters just said it is a small cancer and never really seemed to care. Hope you have someone or many someones to listen and be there for you. It is terrible to feel alone. I hope you will have some pain relief and not feel so down. My prayers and thoughts are with you. This is the best place to seek help and guidance.

    Blue Too
    I am blue, too.

This is one tough road to go down.

I have my bilateral mastectomy on August 18th and I am trying not to freak out.

I am going out with friends tonight for dinner, but just feel like staying in and crying.

All this is just normal, I think.

    Let's be blue today together.

Hi Diana, I didn't have rads
Hi Diana, I didn't have rads or chemo either. All my pain comes from the bilateral mastectomy and node dissection nerve damage and scar tissue.

    Feeling down
Here I was jumping up and down like crazy in the water aerobics class today, thinking of you. So very sorry to hear your pain is back. Since I opted to put off the nerve block I haven't really looked into it any more. My internist, whom I love dearly, told me that the pain relief from nerve block stretches across the spectrum from short lived to no pain ever again and everything in between. Lyrica is helping me a slight bit better than Gabapentin, less loopyiness, even though I still have problems finding words, but, maybe, at 78 I shouldn't complain about that. That you are feeling blue is only natural. I had no idea that lymph node removal would cause me problems 14 months later, but what choice does one have? My pain is much better in the morning and as I move around it increases. Doctors told me I must stretch the scar tissue and that it will help to decrease the pain down the road! Well, duh, 14 months later....About the underarm swelling, I was told it's like phantom pain. Phantom swelling? At night I put my arm on 2 pillows and take 100 mg Lyrica, plus half of a sleeping pill. I had better relief from pain with Tramadol, Vicodin makes me sick to my stomach. Here I had hoped, dear sister, you'd strap on your skies and head down Texas way, if we ever get enough snow! Hope you will feel better, please let me know.
Many hugs and warm fuzzies, Marlene

You can jump and down for
You can jump and down for me!! I know this is only temporary. Like my doctors told me, it is experimental to see what helps the best with my pain.

If you have problems with scar tissue, please think about pt massage for it. Even when I stretch at home, it doesn't get it like the massage does. They can feel which way it is tight an work it by softly stretching it. I can tell the difference when I have missed my thursday appt and have to wait til monday or tuesday to get it again. It doesn't hurt to try...

    Pain....
It is so hard to be in pain, hard not to feel like doing anything. I know. Most pain meds make me puke so I just deal or sit around and then I get blue too. It really does help to watch funny things on tv or read. I hope you get past this quickly.....it's awesome you were able to go for a walk....the garden will wait, mine waited all summer and now it's overgrown with weeds :(

    Pain
alone is enough to make someone feel depressed. I'm sorry you are having problems after your mastectomy. We are all so different. I guess I should feel grateful that I had no problems healing after bilateral mastectomy. I didn't have any reconstruction. No node involvement. I did however have sharp twinges now and then for several months. Hopefully you'll be able to wait until you can get the shots. Stay strong and have faith.
