Last RAD Treatment This Morning and...
This morning marks my last RAD treatment, #28. I'm both happy and anxious. I'm also not feeling well. I developed a summer head cold over the weekend and feel just awful this morning.
I have my annual mammogram scheduled for September 15th, one day before my 43rd birthday. Last year, on September 17th, one day after my 42nd birthday, I was told I had breast cancer.
This whole journey has been intense, agonizing, traumatizing and life saving. I'm nervous about my upcoming mammogram, but I suppose that is normal.
I feel like the proverbial baby bird being pushed out of the safety of my nest and expected to fly one my own now.
I feel a bit lost, like I have to find my way again now that active treatment and weekly checkups are ending today.
What I do know for certain is my journey is far from over, it's just merging onto a new highway. I plan on staying on this forum, offering what I can to others and learning from those of you whose journey's have been longer than mine.
I'm so grateful to all of you who have helped me thus far. Your love, encouragement, inspiration and personal stories have forever changed my life.

Congratulation Maria, this
Congratulation Maria, this is a big day for you. You will get your diploma and begin the next phase of your life. I have enjoyed following your journey and how you so eloquently posted all your raw emotions. It is a scary step to make that leap once again on your own, but just remember you are truly never alone. Many of us have already made that leap and it's time for you to join us once again this time on the "healing journey".
Congrats buddy,

You will find your way. It is a little scary to think about at first but you get used to it. AND once you get those clear mammo results you will really start to feel better!
Congrats Rad Grad! Glad it's over,
Jennifer

Happy Graduation!
Nice to be done! Enjoy that treatment is over. I know it is scary to think it's over to but at least take the afternoon to really celebrate.
If you are nervous about the mammo, come see me! I will take good care of you. I haven't made anybody cry in 5 years! I was nervous doing the mammos when I got back to work. I wasn't sure how I would do after being off work for 9 months. But I got my groove back! No tears still....

Congrats
on your last rad! I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Summer colds can be annoying especially if you're tired from getting rads. I felt a bit out of sorts when I finished rads in Feb 2011. I'm still tired and sleep a lot! I love your new attitude. Stay strong and adapt to your new normal, whatever it may be.
