Pain
I sure had a terrible weekend. I do have acid reflux disease and take medicine for that. Friday I all of a sudden had the worst stomach pain. Like in the middle of my stomach under the breast in the center. Well I ended up in the ER and it was not my heart.
So they gave me a GI Cocktail with lidocane in it. To numb everything.
Well that severe pain is better but still have off and on pain.
I did have Malt lymphoma in 04, When this started. Then it went to stage 4 Follicular NHL
and had it in the bone marrow.
My question is should I call my oncologist on this or go to my Gastroentologist. I have no clue.
Thanks everyone. Hilde

Call both
Hilde,
First of all I am so sorry you are having pain. That is never any fun. I would call both of them. You don't know what the problem could be and it is the job to find out. There is no reason to sit around in pain when there is a solution out there. If you just call one and they can not find the problem then you have to wait to make another appt. You know how long that can take. John0 -

Thanks so much John I will take your advice. You are right. I just did not think it would be a problem for the Oncologist. I am confused on what to tell them. Thank you. Hilde
Hope you are doing well.0 -

Hilde,
I can remember a few years ago I was working on a project outside and came in the house just to cool off a bit. I sat down on the den sofa and all of a sudden my stomach started to hurt. Then it felt like something was twisting my abdominal muscles. It was a horrible pain to say the least. I started to sweat really bad. I thought it would never end. Must have lasted about an hour. Then all of a sudden it started to let up. Never knew what it was and never had it again.I wish I would have had someone to call. I did not even have a regular family Dr. at the time. I had only been in NC a short time. Too this day I wonder what it was and what caused it. It was terrible and something I will never forget. The moral of the story is, "Please let me die now and I will never ask for anything again." Have you ever felt anything that bad? I hope not.Thats why I say call them both, you never know how bad the pain could get. John0 -

Yes that is how I felt on Friday when I ended up at the ER. and all they did tested for heart attack.
I told them it could be my stomach, but all they gave me was the GI cocktail. But I will do like you suggest is to call both. I have to do my cat scan in August. I can feel for you for sure. Stomach issues are not fun either.
I am still not over all of it. Btu will call my oncologist nurse tomorrow and run it by her.
Thanks John and keep doing well. Hilde0 -

Dear Hilde,
I wonder why they didn't give you a ct Scan. In Sept 2009 I was feeling so wonderful.
On a Saturday night I had had the worse pain in my abdomen. To this day, I have no memory
of the pain. I was rushed by ambulance to the ER, had a CT Scan. The results, my small
bowel perforated. I had an operation to resect my small bowel. The perforation was
caused by NHL.
I am glad you are calling the oncologist nurse. See if you can get a CT Scan. Yes and yes,
be sure to see a gastro doctor.
Pain could be a warning of something wrong. I sometimes get very gassy when I eat Hummus,
or other gassy foods. The pain is horrible, but eventually goes away.
Keep us posted. Love Maggie0 -

Hi HIlde,
I hope you called the Dr and you got in right away. I have pains in my stomach but they go away after a short time. Let us know how you are and what they said. Joanie
Hi Hilde,
I agree with everyone else..call both doctors. I have a tendency to ride things out in hopes of avoiding a new problem to deal with. Thats not good to do on many levels. We always need to remember we are cancer patients/survivors and we can't just ignore or let things ride. We've worked too hard to get where we are to allow fear to possibly cause a more serious problem. We need to stay on top of our aches and pains. I have a list of questions to ask about when I go in on the 20th. Most likely nothing will be serious enough to warrant testing, but at least I will have informed my doctor of my concerns. Let us know what you find out. Sure hope it's nothing serious. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you Hilde. Love...Sue

Well everyone, I did call the gastro and seen him today. So next Wednesday I am having A GED.
So we will see where all of it is coming from. I do have a history of acid reflux and diverticula disease. So we will see.
I will do the test and see what they say. Then I will call the Oncologist.
I am the same way Sue, I would rather wait till it goes away. But that was such a severe pain. I do a cat scan in August.
I had one March 1,of this year and all was ok. So will see. Hope you are all doing well and I am so glad to have all you to hear me out.
I pray for all of us on here nightly.
much love to all of you, and thank you so much.

Hilde,
Don't worry about it. With me having Chemo Brain I just read them and did not even realize they were on there that many times. I thought I was reading something new every time LOL.
At least you got something started now and hopefully you are feeling better tonight. John0 -

You guys are really funny. Love it. My puter kept freezing so I got tired of it and redid the whole thing, I have never done that before. But got it done.
It is working pretty good now. Knock on wood.
Thank you all for answering all my posts. Hope things are going well for all of you.

Hilde, what became of your tests results? Did you find the source of the pain? I hope you are doing better. I had MALT Lymphoma diagnosed in January 2011. I completed radiation therapy in March. I had followup EGD, CT Scans and a second opinion involving several tests at M D Anderson in Houston. All tests were within normal range and no signs of the MALT. However, I continue to a similar pain that you a described. It eases right after eating, but returns a couple hours later. I have tried prescription strength antacids, pain pills, but nothing helps. I have seen Botha my gastrologist and oncologist. They have not been able to find the source. Last week I had a scan with contrast of my small intestine, wall was normal there? Could I still be in the healing stages following radiation? Are you still having symptoms? I am also experiencing bloating and am very careful what I eat. Looking forward to hearing how you are doing.hilde451 said:multiple posts
