Abnormal ovary ?????
1. My chest x-ray showed a small amount of fluid in the pleural space around my lungs which I expected. BUT it appears that my heart is slightly en-larged????? So I am to have some investigation for that.
2. The ultra-sound managed to show up (my supposedly healthy ovaries) an abnormality with my left ovary. The stenographer was very open and honest with me and said she didn't know what it was. She couldn't confirm cancer but she couldn't rule it out. I have an appointment on Monday with my GP to get the official results.
It just seems very strange to me that my once healthy ovaries (so I was told) has now an abnormality.
Is it possible I have mets from PPC to the ovaries? Has anyone ever heard of that? Otherwise, and this if it is true will make me angry (as I was diagnosed wrongly), otherwise my primary all along was ovarian in origin with mets to my peritoneum???
Is an ultra sound more or less reliable or accurate than a CT scan???
I will get to find out more next week.
I must say when I came out of the hospital I looked up to heaven and said "Why, haven't you already given me enough?" "Isn't one cancer enough to deal with?"

I am praying there is no abormality
with your ovaries. Maybe a ct/pet scan would be better for you. You could just hace scar tissue near the ovary. Keep us posted whe you see your doctor Monday. Yes one cancer is enough, Keep the faith..val0 -

At the time of my surgery they said my ovaries were healthy also but the doctor indicated that my PPC still came from an ovary cell. They took my ovaries out at the time of surgery. I am surprised that you did not have yours removed but really it could just be some scar tissue or something else. I will pray that you have no abnormality and you get answers to your questions soon.0 -

When I was diagnosed, they could tell something was up with the ultrasound, but not the nature of the something. It took a CT scan for them to determine it was ovarian cancer.
Dear Tina
If I were in your shoes, I would have all my "girl parts" removed whether the ovary was malignant or not. Ovaries still make estrogen which probably isn't good for the PPC.
There is no imaging test that will answer your question--only a biopsy can really tell you if you have ovarian cancer. Sorry you have to deal with this--and I hope you don't have to wait too long to get answers.

I have had numerous CT scans and my ovaries have never shown up as anything other than normal. When I was diagnosed & found out I was BRCA 2+ I requested they removed my ovaries but mt doctor told me it was not necessary. He didn't want to do un-necessary surgery on me as it could cause my PPC cells to spread. I went through the menopause naturallt 6 years ago.
Thanks for all of your replies. My appointment is in 2 days so will let you know what the offical line is then.

Hi Tina
For heavens sake what is going on!!!!!
I was originally diagnosed with an ultrasound scan although to 'confirm' the diagnosis I had to have a CT scan. I think the CT scan or even a PET scan is more definitive. I truly hope that this is NOT ovca. Keep us informed.

My oncologist suggested that my ovaries had always been in this condition ..... I just never realised !!!! However, he isn;t too impressed with ultrasounds and is waiting for me to have a CT scan in the coming weeks which will provide a much better picture of what is happening inside of my body.
I had my CA125 taken and get those results next week.
Thanks for all of your kind thoughts. Love Tina xxxxx0
