Hello Epark. I am sorry
Hello Epark. I am sorry that you are part of the club too. But, you are surrounded with pink sisters that offer you support, encouragement and all of the hugs you can take.
I had a lumpectomy also with rads. I did not have chemo, but, so many on here have and got thru it and you will too. We have to do everything we can to fight the beast and it sounds like you are.
Many, many do NOT have a recurrence. Ofcourse, it can happen, but, you need to try and think positive and focus on your treatment right now and taking care of yourself.
There are several on here now having treatment for a recurrence, just like we have many who have fought the beast more than once and are living full, healthy lives. To name a few, Re, Carkris and Kathi M have fought twice or more and are doing great.
I will be praying for you and hoping that you will have no side effects from chemo.
Keep posting to let us know how you do.
Hugs, Jan0 -
So good to meet you
but as always, sad it has to be under these circumstances. It's so overwhelming when you see all the treatment that you have to do. It's overload! Just try and take one treatment at a time and know you'll get through it.
Keeping you in prayer and sending you hugs,
Sylvia0 -
A little ahead of you, epark...you'll get here, too!
Welcome, epark -
Similar situation here: Diagnosed with IDC (in my case, tiny tumors in both breasts), stage 1, grade 2 in 2009 when I was 40. Bilateral lumpectomies and sentinel node biopsies, negative nodes, then 4 rounds of Taxotere/Cytoxan (TC), then 7 weeks of radiation. I'm now almost 2 years into my 5 years of Tamoxifen, and have had 3 clean mammograms since completing treatment, yay!
Please know that chemo is do-able -- it's not like it was 10 years ago, or like you see in the movies or on TV anymore, they now have much better drugs to help with side effects.
Everyone's experience with chemo is different, but let us know which "cocktail" you're getting (TC? AC? Something else?), and hit us with any questions you have.
We're here for you, girl -- give us what ya' got!

Welcome
And sorry you have to be here. This is a great place to find information, encouragement, prayers and hugs! There is not a question that will go unanswered. Chemo is totally do-able. My oncologist always said, "you're young, you can do it" and I am almost 10 years older than you so this should be a breeze? Well may be not a breeze......
The side effects are different for each chemo so if you want suggestions let us know your specifics. Also www.cancer.org has a nutrition section, house keeping section and other stuff. This year will be a challenge but you aren't alone.

Welcome epark
Sorry you have to join us but glad you found us. It is very good that nodes were not involved and your margins were clear so chances are lower for reaccurance I believe. I had chemo for invasive duct. carcinoma but first I had bilat. mastect. last aug. It was not fun but doable, as we say. For some it was very hard and for others it was doable.
Keep us posted and very nice to meet you. Come often.

Welcome to the club that you never wanted to join!
but you will be so glad that you did as this is the most supportive, informational and loving group of pink sisters out there! Some are so knowledgeable, funny, supportive, loving, and you will get more hugs and prayers than you ever dreamed. We are here for each other, as well as ourselves.
Sorry you are here, but you came to the right place to share and/or vent, and we really do understand.0 -
Welcome epark
could think of a million better ways to meet but I also know how
invaluable this site was for me during the course of my treatment.
I am glad you found us so early in your journey. Yes it is very
overwhelming at the beginning I think there are 3 stages with
a cancer diagnosis
1- This can't be happening!
2- Whatever it takes - let's go!
3- Now what?
So soon you will have your game plan on and you will be in the
fight for your life. Stay focused on healing and give it your all.
Try not to stress - it is the worst thing for your body. This is a
time to tune in and take good care of yourself. This is the best
advice I can give you. I learned this late in my treatment so if I
can save you some stress, it would make very happy. You already
know you have to do, put aside your fears for now and nurture
yourself as much as possible.
We will be here to hold your hand along the way.
Hugs,
Ayse0 -

Welcome epark
This
Welcome eparkThis certainly isn't the place we want to meet others but you'll be so glad you found us. I wanted to send out a welcome as well and I pray everything is going ok for you. Bring all of your concerns and questions here and you're guaranteed to find others in your situation or have already gone through it. We are all different but it sure is wonderful getting insight from those who have traveled out path and it's equally wonderful to have others traveling it along side us. Stay strong and God Bless my friend.

No one is really happy to be here, but I think I can safely say this place is awesome. We all know the fear you are facing right now. So glad you came upon us early in your journey. We will be here all the way to help you with questions, concerns, lend moral support and encouragement and be here if you want to scream at the top of your lungs.
My situation was different from yours in that I was Stage 3C, had lumpectomy and 23 nodes removed (10 positive), had 6 rounds of TAC and 33 rads. That all finished about a year ago. I am one year into the 5-year Arimidex pill. I never gave myself any credit for being a strong, determined woman--breast cancer changed that opinion of myself. And, you can and will do it to. It wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined it would be. My best advice to you is to take it one step at a time. Thinking of the overall picture all at once can be totally overwhelming and stressful--you don't want that.
Just remember, some days all you can do is breathe--and some days, that's enough.
Best of luck and tons of positive energy coming your way.
Hugs, Renee0 -

Welcome
Hi, and welcome to the pink sisters club...
I also have IDC, diagnosed in July 2009. I had lumpectomies, one cancerous and one benign. I have had chemo and radiation. I am two years out from diagnosis, with no recurrence of the disease. You can do this! Please don't hesitate to ask questions on this discussion board. We are all here to help and support you,

So very sorry
So very sorry we meet you under these circumstances. This is the best bunch of people who don't want to be somewhere that you'll ever run across (the club no one wants to join). Prayers and angels are surrounding you. Please feel free to vent, share your thoughts, fears, frustrations and triumphs. We're here for you.
