You're in good hands at Brigham'sunknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
Hi Shawn,
Sorry to hear of your situations but happy to see you found our group. You will meet many good people here that are willing to answer any questions you have during this difficult time. To William’s point you are very lucky to have had such an early diagnoses, many are not so fortunate.
I was diagnosed stage 2B (T2N1M0) last summer (2010 at 49 years old) followed by six rounds of chemo (carboplatin & taxol) done concurrently with 28 radiation treatments. On November 18 2010 I had my MIE at Brigham’s. My surgeon was Dr. Scott Swanson. I was completely comfortable with Dr. Swanson and the EC program at Brigham’s. I was in the hospital for 10 days, recovered over the next four months and back to work by April 2011. There are several very highly regarded surgeons at Brigham’s that perform the MIE. I had a second opinion at Lahey Clinic but for me I felt best about Brigham’s and Dr. Swanson.
If you have any questions regarding what to expect during your upcoming MIE experience at Brigham’s, please feel free to ask. If you want to send me a pm, that’s fine too.
Regards,

Hi William, my physician is Dr. Bueno. He has done hundreds of these surgeries. I had a pet/ct scan which was negative. I have high grade dysplasia. I also had a endo ultra sound last Friday. I met with dr. Bueno this past Saturday. Upon consultation with him he told me that a MIE should be performed. I do not have the results of the biopsies from the ultra sound as of yet. I also talked with the surgeon who performed the endoscopic u/s said he didn't think having a emr would be the way to go. He said something regarding the tissue around the dysplasia did not look good.0 -

I also wanted to let you know that I will be in good hands when I return home. My fiancé is a nurse as well as her mother and my mother. I also heard back from my mothers friend who is a nurse practitioner at BWH and Dr. Bueno did 17 MIE's last month. Thank you for all the info! I'm still reading up on the entire procedure and recovery. Kind of concerned about the weight loss/eating after. Although I'm a fairly big guy at 6'5" 255lbs.0 -
