Swollen lymph nodes

I have many swollen lymph nodes around my neck, under my chin and behind my neck. Is this a bad sign of mets developing. I may have liver mets and will find out Monday about my petscan. I don't have a cold. Any one else had this hapeen? I still have alot of indigestion and wake up nauseous in the morning. I still have an appetite and want so many things I can't have right now. My stomach is so grumbly all the time and burping alot.

Is there any way that you could call your Oncologist? I am hoping for good results for you with your pet scan. But if you have an infection that is causing your node to swell, maybe they could start you on antibiotics so you have the weekend?

Best wishes and prayers for you.

    Hi Laurissa,

1st let me say that I wish you the best of luck on Monday with your PET scan. Sounds like you are just getting the results on Monday, not actually having the scan itself done. Whenever those of us who have had breast cancer have any sort of scan/test/procedure we are anxious until we are given the results. I think it is like a little dark cloud that will follow us always.

That being said, the most common reason for lymph nodes to become enlarged is an infection - either bacterial or viral. Just because you have/had breast cancer does not mean you can't get a completely unrelated infection. Let us hope that is all that this is for you. Unfortunately, breast cancer survivors can also develop metastases to the liver, lungs, or lymphatic system. I recently had a cough and went to my oncologist suggesting that maybe I had lung mets. No such thing thank goodness - just a common cold (in July).

Let us know how things go for you.

    Don't panic!
Hang in there, sweetie! If these just popped up since your scan, as someone said, you may have some type of infection....are they sore? After all the lymph nodes tend to swell when they're doing their job of fighting infection....you could even have "picked something up" when you had your scan...sounds gross, but hospitals and imaging centers are notorious for germs...sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it...the very places that are making us well, can make us sick!
To be safe, check your temperature...if even a low grade one is present, call your oncologist....don't wait until Monday...or just call for peace of mind...remember, they are being paid to care for us! Tough for them if it's a Friday or weekend!
    Keep us posted...we care!

Through the years, I have had nodes swell. Not a bunch at one time, but they turned out to be some kind of infection. I will hope that for you rather than something worse.

    I hate this!
I hate that you're worried that you might have mets! I also hate that it's Friday and probably the oncologist said s/he is seeing you Monday so they'll check it out then. I don't know what to say to reassure you because I don't know what else they could mean except infection. If you were my child, I'd only think infection, but we've had cancer and our minds go to that dark place anytime something is amiss.

I'll just send some hugs and prayers for good results on Monday and I want to make sure you get them.

    Love,

I am sorry, and hope lymph nodes are not cancer related.
As far as the liver goes, I alway take enzymes and probiotic acidophilus. Talk to your pharmacist or check Whole Foods, or amy other natural foods shop. It always helps me.
    Sending positive thoughts and hugs

Hoping and Praying that its just .. an infection, Laurissa
however, I would call your Oncologist or doctor regarding this pain. Maybe you and your body can tolerate ibuprofen? I am sure with the soreness, it is difficult to relax or lay down. Please take care of yourself -- we are rooting and praying for YOU@!

Sincere wishes, and prayers for you. Hoping for positive and great results on Monday, August 1st.

    Thinking of you ...

    Strength, Courage and Hope.
