Radiation

My daughter is going to be starting radiation next Monday. The doctor called and said that he will be using IMRT. He explained that this is the best choice for her. She has Hodgkin's and the PET scan showed a small spot left in her chest & neck. Does anyone have any information on this or may have had this type of radiation? It is my understanding that by using this type of rads there is not do great of a chance of damaging normal tissue.

    Chest & Neck Radiation
Not sure what my radiation was named, but I was hit 20 times over 20 days (if my memory doesn't fail me). I had Hodgkin's stage 2B and received radiation on my upper chest and neck. After 16 cycles of chemo and one reoccurance in-between, my doc decided on radiation for the same reason: to kill any microscopic cancer cells. After my first 8 cycles, I also had a small spot on one of my lungs.

I recall my throat being VERY dry at the time and could only swallow soft foods. My skin was also sensitive. This was 17 years ago and the only side effect that I have is a good one...no hair growth under my right armpit. Go figure! The left one still grows. Ha!

I hope all is going well for your daughter.
    Take care!

    Radiation
My daughter has finished 6 radiation treatments and no side effects yet (hopefully that is the way it is for all 20). The nurse told her today that the doctor wants to give her 3500 over 4 weeks. I wasn't there with her when she was told this. Is this normal for Hodgkin's patients? When we first met him he told her that he was giving her the least amount for this treatment. Anyone with any information on this that they would like to share with me?
    Thanks
