Always hope
I also have no specific experience to share with you, as my husband had tonsil cancer, caused by HPV, and I hope you hear from someone who can give you specifics soon, but we all can offer support.
Congratulations on the 1408 days! You fought a tough battle in the past and you will be able to handle what the future throws at you. You also know the value of "one day at a time" - it's very scary to not know what your diagnosis means just yet, but that will come and you will deal with it. Focus on today and on what your next step is - when is your PET scan? When will you get the results from that? It's going to be tough to wait, but you really can't make any concrete plans until you get better information.
I'm glad you found this site - it was a lifesaver for us.0 -

It is tomorrow so they are moving pretty quickly, which I am grateful for. Should know a little more by Wednesday.0 -

Congratulations on your sobriety of 1408 days! You are a survivor.
I do not have experience with what you have, I have brain cancer. However, one of my favorite Bible verses is James 1:3 where it talks about Perseverance through Pain or Productive Pain. I feel that sometimes in order to get through hard things (cancer) that we are given other obstacles (sobriety in your case) in order to learn how to survive. I believe that God has already given you the tools necessary; first with your sobriety and then upon the passing of the father while you were pregnant. This too shall be a learning experience.
I feel that you have come to the right place where many have walked before you, will come after you and are here now. I hope you find the answers and the Peace you are seeking. You will be in my prayers.
Blessings,

Welcome
Welcome to the forum, awesome people here and a wealth of information and experience to draw upon.
I'm very sorry that you have had a need to seek and find this web site and forum. I can certainly understand your anxiety, we've all shared the same.
I cannot speak of your specifics as I had STGIII SCC HPV+ Tonsil Cancer. But we all share a similar bond and many closely related treatment protculs..
I'm sure that someone will pop on here and give you more specific information to your particular situation.
Best,

I am not familiar with your cancer, but I did want to take a moment to say hello to you. I was SCC Stage IV with an unknown primary. I had a neck dissection and radiation. You are obviously a survivor, and 1409 days sober, is amazing. There are many people here to support you through every stage of your journey. Although our diagnosis, are all different here, the treatments are often the same, or very similar.0 -
Hope
I'm so sorry for your news. There is always HOPE! My Best to you.0 -
Always There is Hope
Audoggie:
Welcome to this site. It is fantastic! So sorry to hear your news, but try to stay calm while you wait for the game plan! I'm a big believer in AA and congrats to you. My husband was an AA'er too and was successful. Unfortunately, I lost him to this beast last Aug. 21. But he began AA in '97 and never looked back! He was diganosed in Nov. 08 with throat cancer and went thru chemo/rad which was successful and he did return to work for a year. However, it returned last year with avegence, but he was always a positive person and very courageous. Now, remember everybody is different and miracles do occur. Will be keeping you in my prayers. Everybody on here is so compassionate and feel free to come here often. We're all here for you. I call these wonderful people my csn "buds"! I don't know what I'd do without them. By the way, with the "audoggie" are you a dog lover? I have two, Rowdy and Sammy, a sheltie and dachshund. Did have 3 but had to put Blue down in March! They are my lifelines as we had no children. Take care and God Bless!

That nickname was actually given to me by my cousin when I was 12, my name is Audra & she made it fun. It just kind of stuck. But as an adult I have had a couple of wonderful pit bull mixes, my ex has my first Sacha, and I have had our Mea for over two years now. If I could figure out how to put a pic on my name you could see all 4 of my babies (3 kids & our pup).0 -

I'll post this and maybe Skiffin (John) will see it. He told me how to do the pix; but it's one of those things, don't ask me how I did it; I just did and it worked. Best as I remember you go onto your My CSN space and click picture and then edit (I think edit is when you change pictures or may edit anyway. Anyway it will bring up a bar for you to browse your pictures and then you pick the picture and upload I think). If John sees this and I left anything out he'll probably post to you and let you know. God Bless!
