starting second cycle of chemo carbo/Taxol
My question is has anyone done this and if you had no side effects the first time did you have any when you started the combined treatments? I know everyone is different but I am just wondering how it effected others

side effects
Hello~ They didn't break down the amount they were giving Mom, however they told her while she was getting the WBR she would than go get carbo/alimta and it was at a lower dose, but they didn't say by how much until she was done with rads.
After 1 TX at a lower rate they gave her the required amount and did well either way. Had the expected fatigue-not to bad, loss of hair, ate well and no nausea.
Hope you do as well as Mom did.0 -

I am on my second cycle of chemo now and had my first treatment of the full dose of Carbo/Taxol on Monday. So far no side effests at all and I am feeling very good. Hope it stays that way.
Good luck0 -

I had my first treatment of Carbo/Alimta on Wednesday. So far no side effects either. But I'm have the radiation side effects. The last treatment was last Thursday. The skin on the side of my neck is so burnt. My throat still hurts and the stress fracture on my spine. The pain meds do help and hopefully each day will get a little better. I went to a neuro today who will fix the fracture with kyphoplasty. Otherwise I feel great but I wonder if it is the steriods keeping me upbeat and energized! Just today, I started to cut down to one a day, for a week then I will be off them.0 -

My wife had Carbo/Taxol treatment and within 3 minutes she coded and had to be shocked and CPR back to life...She then went on 4 weeks of just Carbo and when they tried Taxotere she had the same reaction only we were prepared and she did not code...so we have only been able to do the carbo...and radiation for 30 treatments.....,,,I wonder what the results will be...You can do multiple chemo regimens I think but I don't believe you can do more radiation.....0 -

Carbo/Taxol
Hi- I had the same combo (don't know doses), and the 35 rad. treatments. I was given a shot of benedryl, I think to prevent nausea. I only got really nauseaus during one of the "blasts of chemo". Otherwise, I felt pretty good. After 14 total head rad. treatments
I would take 5 chemos to 1 whole head rad treatment. I think the combination of those 2 drugs saved my life. I hope the same for you! Good luck.0 -
I beleive this was what mom
I beleive this was what mom had her first treatment schedule. They told her she'd lose her hair. It thinned but she didn't lose it! Most of her nasty symptoms were from radiation. This time around chemo only - makes her very tired for a few days after and some tummy pains.0 -

Did they mention anything about doing the Alimta with the Carbo?
The next 6 rounds of chemo my mom will have are a concoction of Alimata, Avastin and Carboplatin. Her first treatment of these drugs was just yesterday so I am not sure what effects it will have on her. Thankfully, she won't have radiation- they really got her hard with radiation (30 treatments) and is advised not to do that now; only chemo.0 -
