I am from Boston area. When I looked into Surgeons for the daVinci, my Gynecologist is listed under the Surgeon's name that performs it BUT she's not an Oncologist. But you would definately choose the Oncologist right? It is what I most need to know right now as I am so unsure of everything. ((Hugs for answering so quickly))).0 -

I had both my OB and oncologist OB do my hysterectomy (total not DiVinci). OB told me this is fairly common situation to have both in on surgery. If I now look at the situation, the oncologist OB would have been sufficient and wondering today if my OB was in it for the $$$. Who really knows.
Good luck!0 -

I had a radical hysterectomy a month ago at MA General, they were wonderful. I was also diagnosed with endometrial cancer. I can't say enough good things about the hospitals obgyn oncology center. I also frequented this discussion group, it was two months wait from diagnosis til surgery. I am hoping and praying all goes as well for you as it did for me. Many Blessings!0 -

I had looked into MAGeneral Dr's as well but didn't find a Gyn-Oncologist there that performed daVinci Hysterectomy. I know I need to speak with my GYN first... Wow 2 months wait for your surgery..is this common? Some of the posts I thought I read had them sooner to diagnosis. Thank you for your prayers and Bless you as well !!0 -

Wasil..
I had the DaVinci method and I waited about a month, once I saw the Gyn Oncologist.
There are pro's and con's to both methods, so I think it is most important that you have a GYN Oncologist do the procedure and select one that you feel comfortable with. Yes, the recovery is faster with the DaVinci but I think their technical knowledge, experience and communication skills are much more important than which procedure they do.
Your Gyn may know some really good GYN-ONC that she could recommend....read up about them, etc. Meet with one and see what you think.... A second opinion is always a good idea too. And definitely do it if you don't feel comfortable with the first one.
We are here for you....so ask away.

Wasil My OB/GYN recommended a GYN/ONOCOLOGISTsleem said:Gyn-Onco
My research put me to having a Gyn-Onco. I had regular OB-GYN & changed. Everyone has there own trust, safety level. I am quite satisfied.
When I hd my abnormal PAP my GYN recommended I see a GYN/ONO to do the surgery. They are more skilled with the staging process. I had the DaVinci surgery.
Good luck with your surgery, and feel free to come back with any more questions you may have. In peace and caring.0 -
Go with a Gyn/Onc
Wasil
My gyn did my hysterectomy, however, they did not know I had cancer. But after the hysterectomy and the path came back, I had to go back in for staging surgery. My gyn directed me to a gyn/onc because during surgery not only can they better spot stuff, they are good at repairs also.
I hope this helps.
