Hi all:
Meet with my Doctor on Tuesday and due to lymph node involvement shown in path report he's decided to do xeloda with the rads. Anyone have experience with this drug, side effects, etc?
Thanks!
Laura

I had Xeloda with raiation.
I had Xeloda with raiation. The radiologist told me that the site of my radiation might get redder quicker with the xeloda. I didn't have any other side-effects as far as I know. I mean, the radiation makes you tired and I don't know if xeloda added to that. But, I still got up and did what I wanted to. I wasn't just wiped out and bed-ridden or anything.

Hi Laura, I took Xeloda for
Hi Laura, I took Xeloda for 6 months, but I didn't have radiation at the same time. It was prescribed to me for mets on my spine. I experienced some diarrhea, fatigue, and hand/foot syndrome. All of the symptoms were manageable for the most part, however; the medication didn't work for me, my mets continued to grow. On the plus side, you don't lose your hair and it's a pill at home instead of having to sit through an IV infusion. Get lots of rest with radiation and drink plenty of water, I got dehydrated a couple times from rads.

took xeloda
Yes, I took xeloda for 5-6 months in 2009. I had hand/foot syndrome and my fingernails all loosened up. I put Hello Kitty band-aids on until they grew stronger. My hands and feet were incredibly red and itchy. I used foot creams and soaked often. There's a foot cream that diabetics use. Get it at Wal-greens. The treatment must've worked. Cancer-free for 2 years now! Good luck to you!0
