anybody have a temperpedic mattress?

I went away on vacation and slept significantly better, less hot flashes. came home, hot again and realized it could be my mattress. I just order a special cooling pad online. go figure stay tuned I'll let you know how it works out!

    I lived with my cousin for six months after my DMX until my exchange surgery. She had one that I slept on and I LOVED IT! I had back pain and knee pain from being a runner in my earlier years and it went away when I slept on that mattress. They are also very cool (temperature). My allergies also improved ... no dust mites can live in them.

    When I moved out, I couldn't afford one, but someone gave me a serta equivalent and it compares to the tempurpedic. I still have no back or knee pain. I highly recommend those mattresses!

    I have one for a few years and love it. however since chemo pause I have had a lot of trouble sleeping. hot/cold/hot/cold. I read on line that they absorb body heat to soften them and you can get too hot. I am hoping this is the reason as I currently either have trouble sleeping or take a sleeping pill, so I am not fried the next day. It just never occurred to me, so I wanted others to be aware. some people (like you) have no issues with the matresses. I was all settled to accept it was just hot flashes.

    Oh yes
    Love my bed it sleeps great. I found no difference with body temperature, it's a better quality mattress.

    a Tempurpedic mattress after breaking both shoulders. Learning to lie on my back was a challenge but the mattress does make a difference. I don't wake with a backache anymore. I also have a Iso Cool pillow and purchased a moisture wicking pillow case. They definitely help but I still have hot flashes on my half bald head.

    Perhaps a chillow
    would help you. It allows you to put a cooling pad in the pillow which absorbs heat. My girlfriend had to get one for her son but I never quite got around to buying one. I had wicked hot flashes going through menopause 5 years ago for several years and they had pretty much stopped until chemo brought them back. My bald head used to really sweat--so I would wake up several times and turn the pillow over.
    I'm almost afraid to say that now 10 weeks out of chemo they are starting to slow down.
    If you google "chillow" you will find the web site. They also have other things that might be of interest.

    thank you for the advice. doesnt seem fair that you would have to go through menopause then again with chemo yuck!

    Not much
    about this disease is fair...but hey, nobody told me life was fair and I'm still fighting!!

    Good luck with your "tropical heat waves", or as my hairdresser (gee, haven't seen her for ages!) says "personal power surges".

    Aren't those the ones that "hug" you?
    When my girlfriend and I went shopping for a new bed last year, we of course had to lay on every mattress in the store, including the Tempur-Pedic one -- omigod, that was WAY too "friendly" for me! That mattress should have at least bought me dinner first!

    We settled on a Sealy pillowtop, and love it. While I surely hope you don't have to go out and spend the money on a new mattress to get some relief, Penny, I'm a little bit glad to hear that Tempur-Pedics may also aggravate hot flashes -- so, if my girlfriend ever wants to consider one again, I can use that as my excuse!
