Vaginal Spotting
Anyone been in this situation post treatments (2 yrs).....?? Wondering if increased intercourse or using a larger dilator has done something to me to cause this.
Oh how the mind starts wondering, but had to post my friend here for your take. Appreciate some good pick me ups and guidance.
Trying to be optimistic, but sure isn't easy knowing mine is more aggressive....such is life!
Best to all~

Thinking of you Jan
Hi jan,
I can understand that you are worried but I am thinking that it could very well be the extra activity in the vagina that is causing the appearance of blood. I know several gals on this board who had that scare and were so happy to hear that it was NOT a recurrance. Yes, get it checked out so you can relax!
Keep us posted!
Big hugs, Karen0 -
Jan
I would share your dispair. You are right to have it checked out as soon as possible, both to find out if there is a problem and get it taken care of or to set your mind at ease.
Cancer so sucks! When does it finally just leave us alone to live our lives?????
Still think we should all get a t-shirt that says It's always something.
Cause, just isn't it?
Or Jana's comment that tomorrow will be worse. For some reason the conflict of truth and absurdity of that just made me laugh.
Best of everything,
Claudia0 -

My heart sunk when I read this post. I hope is is nothing. I had something similar last Nov. Turns out it was nothing. All the CAT scans and test are negative so far. My CA 125 did take a slight rise to 41 last visit. They are monitoring it.
Please keep us posted, my dear friend. I know you are so conscious on keeping healthy. I will keep you in my prayers. Norma0 -

I got that too and always after not so gentle sex.
Even Oz said that sex is good for us, sometimes I'm not so sure.
I so appreciate everyone's input....interesting reading about what can cause some spotting. I know it's not always "gloom and doom" but with this cancer stuff there's always something to flash before us.
Over past 2 yrs I've had 5 doc appts (all different ones, OB, mammogram, PCP, etc) and they thought they found something such as abnormal PAP, spot on mammogram, spot on liver, and abnormal thyroid. I had other tests to confirm it was nothing in all cases. Makes me wonder where this one will lead.
With everyone's input I'm a bit more at ease, knowing it can be just nothing. Have doc appt for this Thursday and had RN draw blood today for my CA125. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks again,

I had a similar spotting issue in January (4.5 yrs past surgery) and was in a panic - happened after I had strained to move my bowels - spoke with onc. nurse next day and she told me very very common - my onc was on vacation and not available for 2 weeks - she offered to make appt with his partner or said I could wait, as I was not reporting continuous bleeding - I waited - he diagnosed vaginitis or dryness, but did send me for a CAT scan to confirm - 6 months later and all is well - sure you will be fine, but it sure is scary0 -

but of course, get it checked out. Just wanted to comment on all the abnormal stuff that keeps cropping up for you. Once we've had a cancer diagnosis, everything that might have been just observed previously is now taken seriously. I guess this is a good thing, but it makes me want to stay away from any doctor because there's always something.
Jan, please let us know that you're ok.

BINGO!! You hit the nail on the head with comment about always finding something that prior cancer days we'd ignore it. But...in my mind, better to be safe vs. sorry...right?
Thusfar no spotting so possibly a fluke, but we'll see after my Thurs appt with oncologist. Had to meet him soon anyway for my 6-month checkup, just have it done earlier and off my mind. THE END~~
Thanks for everyone's concern...doing okay~ Enjoy the 100+ degrees here in lovely St Louis. Now the heat index today should be more like 115 degrees. What did we do prior to AC days? I remember going to high school with no AC, except in principals' office. Boy that was a popular spot to be ... hee hee!

UPDATE
I had the doc appt today and mentioned the spotting (only occurred one time and since then, nothing) and he asked if it could be from the rectal area. I hesitated as I do have hemorrhoids from giving birth eons ago. He did a physical exam and told me everything looks just fine and did the PAP smear which if there's anything at all, will show up there. CA125 was in the low/normal range...yeah! Schedule for next appt in 6 months.
I'm back down to earth and happy, but boy can this cancer scare the bagibers out of us...part of the deal I guess.
Thanks again, everyone of you are so supportive...I feel the love!

Hi Jan
I am so happy for you. I am glad all is well. I so agree with everyone. Why is it that theses docs always find something. I just had my one year CT scan. It reveled that all was great pelvic wise and I am dancincing with NED but then he said that there is some sought of cyst on my pancreas. Evidently it was there pre surgery in Nov of 09 but now one year post treatment it got a little bigger. Of course my docs say probaly nothing to worry about BUT lets do a CT scan of just the pancreas and go from there. But don't worry. YEAH RIGHT!! When does it ever stop! You're right cancer does suck big time!!!

Oh once more, thanks to you all for your kind words!!! I'm good for another 6-months and then the turmoil of concern starts once more.
Sue, I will tell you after my treatments my CT scan showed something on my liver...gee! Doc had me do an MRI, which revealed a "normal" growth which most likely has been there for years on end. Told to not worry as usually never known until we have higher level scans, such as CT. Thusfar, it's just normal and nothing to be concerned with...yeah!
I agree all this stuff is never-ending as one minor thing turns into some big deal, when in fact, prior-cancer days docs wouldn't flinch about it. Just the way of our lives with cancer, but truly not easy to get used to. I would love to just go to one doc and walk out with nothing to worry about. Never happens with me.....
Enjoy the weekend...
