Finally feeling normal...

After three months of chemo followed up with a double mastectomy/reconstruction (inflating tissue expanders) at the end of February through April and then finally finishing radiation treatment two weeks ago. My "new" girls are finally healed up enough to feel like I can put the bounce back in my step without having to say "ouchie". Gosh does that feel good to say that and to say it to somebody who really understands where I'm coming from.

Watch out Bo Derek you have competition... (ooooh... scary thought.LOL)

    Normal is good!
    I totally understand where you are coming from. I think it is hard to ever think that we will ever be done with our treatments and feel normal again, but, it does happen! You are proof of that now! I just hope that anyone that feels otherwise will read this and know it will happen.

    After my last treatment of rads, I felt so lost. I had nothing to do. I was so used to going everyday to my cancer center for rads that I kind of lost who I was.

    But, my husband, friends and family quickly got me back into some of the things I loved to do and wouldn't take no for an answer. I will forever be grateful to them!

    Since then, I have swam with dolphins, walk regularly, go anywhere with anyone at the drop of a dime, traveled all over the states and just enjoyed everything there is in life! Yes, normal is good!

    Lorrie, you are always so positive, and you say such enlightening thoughts, so I wanted to congratulate you and the "twins". LOL! To feel normal again....go enjoy yourself, do something crazy, something wild, something new, with a bounce in your steps.

    Glad you are feeling so much better!!! I am doing better too, I have actually been able to wear my regular prosthesis for the last few days so I'm not lopsided anymore and can wear my regular clothes,and have started walking either on treadmill or outside as temps permit.

    Watch out world a couple more Pink Warriors are on the loose!!!

    Thanks for the hope Lorrie! I was starting to let...ever being normal fall to the way side! I saw my reflection in a mirror at walmart and thought wow! who is that girl with the wig, drawn on eyebrows, one saggy boob, one perky, wearing something I wouldn't wear other than the fact that it could cover my extra pounds and lopsidedness! I was feeling tired and down, so wanting the chance to remember what "normal" is..........

    that 'bounce' back into your step. Next you will be getting your 'groove' back!

    Your body has been thru hell and back, it takes time to .. but, we do get there.

    I just said, I can't wait to not be in pain, what a nice thing that will be. To just feel good again..so happy for you, you have been to hell and back on a donkey riding backwards...lol..or something like that, what ever to hell that means...lol..any way enjoy, enjoy my friend. I am not far behind you, only 2 more days of Rads, and this will begin to be behind me too. It has been a very long ride, and I want to get off now, thank you very much. Diagnosed in Sept. of 2010 and I am so ready for life again...later my dear, go Lorrie, go Lorrie, outta the way Bo Derek...old enough to remember that movie..Cindy
