my husband is 39 and has stomach cancer
my husband was diagonsed with stomach cancer may 13th, we were in denial for a whole 3 weeks after the doctor susbected that it might be cancer, we dont have cancer in the family,he never smoke in his life, never drank and he is young, it could not be cancer. now he is on feeding tube , he can not eat or drink . his first chemo was a disaster, he was too weak, he fainted on his way out and his blood pressure was 70/40 . we have three boys ages 8 , 3, 10month old baby. I am his wife and his only care giver, I am in too much pain and looking for someone with the same experience. I am in houson area close to MD anderson, but he is getting the treated at methodest hospital. I have a complete faith in god that my husband will make it, but i just can not handle the suffering we are going through. we are schedualed for surgery in 5 weeks. please email me at my personal email at

I will pray for you and for everone here. you must trust god and do your best to fight this cancer and leave it to god. doctors said that when you are young you have a better chance, and keep in mind that there are new medications and findings that comes to light almost on a monthly basis. keep the faith.0 -
looking for others in their 30s with stomach cancer
Hello there,
I hope your husband is feeling better now, I have just turned 35 and when I was diagnosed, it hit me as a ton of bricks. I have lost a lot of weight, but now my appetite is back where it used to be. I am still depressed as I am yet to have my surgery and I'm also quite scared and worried. This is a difficult experience, and stomach cancer is unfortunately something that is not well researched especially in younger people like us.
Ready and willing to connect with others who are going through the same experience.0 -

Hello Anitavladi,my son was 30 when he was diagnosed with linitus plastica type of stomach cancer in July 09.He had 3 cycles of chemo(5FU,cisplatin,epirubicin)followed by total gastrectomy and 3 cycles of chemo again. He did lose 15kgs initially after surgery but has been stable over the last year and a half.He is now able to eat most foods(frequent small meals ofcourse)holds a regular job,and has enough energy to play a game of badminton after work!!The next few months may be very tough for you but these days will also pass.Tackle this disease head on.Our thoughts and good wishes are with you.

he also has lost alot of weight but i think depression is killing him more than anything. how to cope with that? the surgery was the easiest part for him. they did a total gastrectomy with roux en y and it went well. the radiation and chemo after the surgery for 5 weeks was the toughest physical part. now it's the psychological part that we are both battling. what are you doing with your family to combat the mental part?0 -

I haven't been on in a while. My husband passed away March 1, 2011 from this deadly disease. I know exactly what you are going through. Being a widow at 34 with a 4 year old daughter is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I think about him every day. Tomorrow is our anniversary and I miss him so much it kills me.
