A sad day for me

Today is one I have dreaded for so long. My beloved cat of sixteen years, Fifty-fifty had to be put down. He has been my constant companion for many years and was by my side during my nine months of treatment. When I was still working, I used to wish he would still be around when I retired. I got my wish for a while. I started a blog a couple of weeks ago. I am not very computer savvy but I wanted some kind of outlet for my writing. Today in memory of Fifty, I published a piece I wrote for an online writing class I took in May. My blog is lifeatcatnipcottage.blogspot.com/ I also put it on Facebook (Karen Shurden).
It's going to be tough because Fifty was the kind of cat who demanded attention. I am sure I will still hear his meow or the patter of his paws coming down the hall to my bedroom. I hate that life so often seems to be about loss. Something we know too much about. Thank you ladies for letting me ramble.
Kiss your pets for me.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. I have been thru it several times and it never gets any easier. They are so trusting, gentle and kind. They love us unconditionally. We can learn a lot from them. I don't know if this was your only pet, but I hope a new special kitty will find it's way to you soon. We have 2 dogs and a kitty and yes I'm going to hug them right now in honor of Fifty..
Hugs,

Karen,
I know what it is like to have a pet stay by my side throughout my illness. I can't imagine what it will be like when she is gone. Hope you find strength through your sorrow.0 -
Karen....I too have been
Karen....I too have been blessed with cats (and a few dogs) who lived into their teens. It is just so painful to lose them. My Sarah (a yellow Lab) became suddenly ill one day and was found to have a malignant tumor the size of a football in her pancreas. God never made a more gentle, eager-to-please creature than Sarah.
Now we have Jackson, a miniature Schnauzer who beleives I am his person. When I am away from home overnight, Jackson, I am told, literally cries for me.
I would love a kitty - a long-haired calico would be my first choice. But my husband is allergic. I am so sorry you lost your kitty. You would think God would give us a break every now and then, wouldn't you?

I am so sorry for you loss,
Karen. I have a cat that is 15 years old. Mary and I have become so close in the last 4 years, and I dread the day that her very weak kidneys stop funtioning. She is my comfort on those very tough days.
May Fifty rest in peace, and may you receive comfort today.

I'M SO SORRY, KAREN
I know what you're going through. We had to put down our precious puppy, Mokey, last August. She was only 10, way too young. When our three daughters asked us to get this cute little Chocolate Lab in 2000, I had just had surgery (my first DX) and was going through chemo. I couldn't imagine taking care of a dog, training her, vet visits, etc.,etc. The years that followed were totally unexpected for me. She became my 'shadow', as everyone called her. She was always by my side, especially when I wasn't feeling well. And during my recurrance in 2006, she was the same if not more.
We all loved her dearly. She was the best - so faithful, always made us laugh with the silly things she did. We still can't believe she's gone, and we miss her so terribly. Our middle daughter made a DVD for us for Christmas of a multitude of photos and even some videos. We cry everytime we watch it. And yes, sometimes we still hear the jingling of her collar, or hear her footsteps in the hallway.
I never expected that Mokey would become our Guardian Angel - but she was that and more.
Sending you lots of hugs today - the loss of a beloved pet is so heartbreaking.
(((HUGS)))
