first day with sore tush
Still hoping no mouth sores. I've already had thrush and still have the swish and swallow. But am really happy I heard about the baking soda and salt remedy here as it's my guess it has helped so far.
All the best to all of you. You are all in my heart. I am so grateful to have this place to come to.
Fondly,
Sandy

It sounds like you are doing well. After getting the pump off, I remeber how it felt so good to be free of it. I hope you will continue to do well. Now with the shot you'll get for the platlets I would imagine that will help with your stamina. I hope you get a good nights rest.

Hi Sandy!
Sorry you've begun feeling some fatigue. The best thing to do is just take it easy and rest when you feel like it. I'm glad you're getting the pump off tomorrow--that was a real moral boost for me both rounds. As for the shot you're going to get, if it's Neupogen or Neulasta, be prepared for achy bones--almost like the flu. It doesn't last long though, which is the good news. The shots worked for me in raising my blood counts. Take care and have a restful weekend.0 -
Sore bottom
A couple of days rest for your beeeehind will do you the world of good. Take time to air it out!
And you will feel so liberated to get rid of that pump. It really does breathe in new life . . .or it did for me.
You are doing so well, Sandy! Try not to look too far down the road because it can become quite overwhelming. My radiation techs and I would frequently high five after treatment and declare something like "We made it through Monday, December 1st!" Wednesdays (hump days) were particularly festive as were Fridays. In other words, they helped me stay focused on the one day at a time mentality.
I, too, am grateful to have this board as a safe place to fall. Keep us posted!

Hi Sandy!
I had to chuckle at your comment about the fan. I hope you are doing well and will enjoy having a couple days off from treatment. Hugs.0 -
Hi, Sandy... Yes, you will
Hi, Sandy... Yes, you will be VERY glad to get that pump off. Don't think about it again until the next time. The fan is a great idea... I walked around pantless whenever possible. Use the sitz baths and the epsom salts in the warm tubwater. Sorry you are feeling the tiredness. Rest when you can, even if, especially if, you think you can continue on. Don't just rest, because this kind of fatigue only gets worse, the more you try to fight it. So please rest. Also, the shot, as Martha said if you are getting the Neulastin, etc, be prepared for some real bone pain. Luckily mine was only the stiffest neck imaginable. It worked, my blood counts went up. Also, don't floss your teeth while going through treatments. Anyloss of blood can lead to lower blood counts and the possibilty of infection setting in. Right now, your body/immune system is compromised so infection is easier to contract. I, too, had the burning butthole. Each movement felt like I was ripping myself a new butthole. That is the radiation. Keep that area very clean. I used the sitz baths and the peri spray bottle. I had the thrush also. I got a scrip for BMX mouth solution, but I felt better with the saltwater and/or baking soda & water rinse. Keep up your nutrition. I am glad to hear you are counting down your radiation days. Keep a good attitude. Get rest. Keep us posted. God Bless.0
