Thanks for sharing. I've looked at the lymphediva styles and they have so many choices, the plain medical sleeves are pretty boring in comparison. You're right...whatever it takes!

Crossing fingers and toes here, I haven't needed them yet but not quite done with rads and one never knows. Also haven't flown yet.
Anything that looks nice perks me up and it is good to know there are options, especially ones that work.

On my recent flight from Phoenix to NY, I wore my compression sleeve and glove (as always) and my husband Kinesio taped my breast and trunk. I love that tape. It seems to work the best for me--my lymphedema is strange in that it affects my breast/trunk areas. I use the sleeve and gloves as a precaution when I fly. I also use the Flexi-touch machine (which I lugged to NY) and I know you've traveled with it as well. I put the unit in my carry-on because I figured that was probably the most expensive piece of the machine. All went well.
Thanks for the input--and for sharing the knowledge. It's a tremendous help.

Looks very cool! I asked my therapist about diva, she said they will not provide enough compression for me. Oh well...
I encourage everyone before buying talk to your lymphedema therapist. Even the same class provide slightly different compression and have different properties.
Idid use Kinesio for a year, Then stopped when returned to work, because I have to wash hand about 20 time to30 time and it is not sustainable for the tape.
Good discussion, thanks

not sure why your therepist said this, but must have her reasons. Just like everything, we have to be our own advocates and do research etc. I do know that the Lymphediva sleeves are medically correct and class I works well for me. My lymphema specialist raves about them also. On LympheDivas.com website you can check out their medical advisors for products which include among others Dr. Cheville, Sr. Assoc.Consultant for the Mayo Clinic....specializes in cancer rehab and lymphedema programs and also serves as a medical advisor for the National Luumphedema Network. Again, I am sure your specialist had her reasons.......but the 20-20 mHg Class I garments work for me....they are medically approved and covered by my insurance and have graduated compression etc etc. So...again,
we all should ask questions, do our research, and make decisions right for ourselves. Whatever works for each of us! Good luck with your treatments0 -

I looked at your pics and it was fascinating to see the kinesio tape on your fingers and hands. I would love to go to somewhere where they would show me how to do that. It's my fingers and hands where I have my primary swelling. I've read a lot recently about several women who have had fantastic results from the tape. I'm in insurance limbo land right now ... without any and finding a therapist who will work on me for less than $400 a visit has proven to be a challenge.
I wear the loosest compression on my arms ... is it 0? 15-20mHg ... do the LymphaDiva sleeves come in that level? I couldn't find it on their site but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. I hate the tan ones although I wear it almost every day ... even if I could just wear a black one ... at least I would look like a cool Harley chic!
Thanks again for your posting and sharing your pics. So helpful! Pray I'd find someone who would show me how to tape!

my therapist explanation that different compression sleeves (fabrics) have different tolerance to stretch or hold /resist to swelling. Her point was that even initially they all have the same compression graduation, for example class I, some are more resistant than others. Most sleeves need to be replace after 3-4 months. I have tried several brands and agree that they all different, even within same class. We all need to find our own brand and discuss it with our therapist. I am glad that you find your style and it is working for you well. Thank you for sharing.
Unfortunately, I have to wear class II sleeve and I am ok with tan.
Dawne,
I think Juzo has black or dark coffee. Check on website.Sorry for not having insurance, it is hard to find a good specialist at reasonable price.0 -

Dawn, no insurance is tough. I did last year find a l.therepist that was 'non in network' with my BCBS insurance and they did a pkg. price for no insurance that was very reasonable. But, yes, I agree it is another challenge for sure to find a good one who will cut you a deal. As for the lighter compression, give LympheDivas a call toll free and ask them about it 866-411-3482 They are lovely people... and will answer your questions or give you help for referrals, etc. BTW, the sleeves can be machine washed on delicate in a 'lingerie bag' and last @6 months. However, since I have a collection of styles and wear different ones, my will probably last longer.
As for the Kinesio Taping...you would need to find a therapist familiar with its use to first see if it will work for you, and then show you how to do it for continuing use. I also use it on my arm (upper and/or lower) when I get a flare up there. One caution...I once forgot I was wearing it and was on the boat........hmmm....a very interesting zebra like tan :-) Good luck! Hugs0 -
