Erbitrux: pain in lower back
Dad just had his first treatment of Erbitrux and seemed to do pretty well except for lower back pain. Has anyone experienced that? He had slight itching, but no rash, very little nausea, but thats about it. Can we expect that the side affects will increase as he does more treatments?

I've been on Erbitux since 2005 and that is one side effect I have never had (or heard of). Is that one that is part of the list of side effects? Could it be stress related?
Anything is possible.

He has just a little twinge of stomach pain but most of the pain is in his lower back. Did any side affects you had increase with the treatments?0 -

The rash lessened over time but the dry skin finger issues got worse over time. Now it's sort of hit or miss with them but the rash is nothing like it was at first.0 -

I've found that since getting dx for cancer, whenever I feel anything going wrong/odd with my body, my first thought is that it is related to my cancer or its treatment...but sometimes it is something non-related...
One thought is perhaps the back pain is from being stuck in a chair getting IV for many hours the previous day?0 -
Eribtux Back Pain
I have not had Erbitux but back pain is one of the listed side effects in about 16% of those that receive it. Apparently your Dad is in that 16% unfortunately. Ask the onc about some type of medication that might ease the back pain. I found out I'm in the lower percent of people that suffer muscle pain from Avastin, sometimes it's excruciating and at other times I don't feel any pain at all. I'm sorry your Dad is feeling the pain but maybe the onc can help out with it.

I finally had a chance to research Erbitux and I did find the 16% as you say. I have another question. I am now able to access his test results with his new onc though www.seemychart.com, which is fantastic. I was looking at his tests and saw that they gave him a CA 19 test and the results were elevated. I looked it up and it is mainly used to detect pancreatic cancer. Does this mean that his cancer has spread to his pancreas? The onc hasnt said anything about that. I also read that it could be due to cirhosis too which developed from the chemo or SIRT. Can anyone shed some light? Im really alarmed by this. Thanks again for all your support!0
