I did a little research and
it looks like you should just trust the doctors. It is most likely nothing, but, as you note, there is a small chance it is something.
Here is an article from Applied Radiology:
Ground glass opacity on CT scanning of the chest: What does it mean?
Sorry we could not be of more help on this.0 -
ground glass finding
I also had this with my last PET/CT June 10 in the right apex of my lung. My oncologist is not that concerned since I had stereotactic radiation in January. The radiologist mentioned possibility of superimposed infection twice in the report; so it's that or inflammation of some sort. I do have a sticky clear mucous with a cough, had a cold in April, but nothing came back on the sputum culture. Since I'm also getting better and lungs are clearing, cough lessening, we're just waiting and watching. I get rescanned in September.
all the best, Leslie
PS Everything else was clear on the Pet/CT0 -

and really, none of my doctors is very worked up about it; so I'm taking the cue and waiting for the next scan in Sept. One of my docs wants a chest x-ray when symptoms clear.
