Mom in ICU

Karen....I have no
Karen....I have no experience with fluid in the lungs, but I wanted to send you a brief note of support, all the same.
I'm very sorry to hear about your mom. Did the doctors say why they thought she would never be a candidate for chemo again? Sometimes we tough old girls suprise those young doctors.
The issue of feeding tubes and breathing tubes, that's something no one can really help you decide. You just have to go with whatever your heart tells you. There are no right or wrong choices.

Her oncologist said that it would be very unlikely for her to be strong enough for her to do chemo again. He also told me that she has the one that is slow growing and the chemo started to not work for her anymore. I can't help but wonder if this is the end for my mom or is there something else that can be done. I guess you really never know the answer.0 -

Karen , I feel for you, I think I will be walking in your shoes in the not to distant future .
Have you thought about getting a second opinion? Its worth an ask? and you can be sure you have done all you can , and explored every avenue.
Carlene is right , our mums are stronger than we think , and I sincerely hope that she proves these doctors wrong , keep the faith.

PRAYERS TO YOU, KAREN
I have no experience either with the fluid situation. I'm sorry that it appears your Mom has come to an impass. But please don't give up hope - I am sending prayers and hugs to get you and Mom through this. I hope it helps. There may still be options.

I don't think doctors should give up hope. As Carlene said, women are much stronger than everyone thinks. My mom has been on lots and lots of different chemos over the past 2+ years. She was just put on a three new drugs and within a week, her lymphodema has decreased almost to nothing and her lung fluid has decreased quite a bit.
Does your mom see a gyno-oncologist? Their experience is much, much greater than the experience of the average general oncologist.
I wish you hope.0 -
She does have
She does have gyn/oncologist. He said it is unlikely for any more surgeries and chemo. My mom still wants to fight. I don't know if everything has been exhausted or not. I know that my mom has been fighting for 2+ years. The doctor said that chemo was not working well anymore so I don't know how much hope my mom has. Her cancer is slow growing and I have read that chemo doesn't work so well on this type. I have prayed to God everyday many times. This is a very sad situation for me and my family. I don't know what is best for my mom anymore and I honestly don't know what to do. This is very hard.0 -

there is always hope. Did your mom have the fluid drained from her lungs?? This would make her more comfortable. I pray she is not in any pain. If your mom wants to fight, fight with her. There may be a drug that can work for her, God bless...val0 -
