anyone with swollen eyes/bridege of nose?

Anyone with swelling around eyes and nose and even water sacs above cheek bones?
Mom's off daily decadron only takes it the day before and the day of treatment.(taxotere) Im afraid this is making her discusted and is not going to want to continue. She's embaressed by the way she looks now.

They said it was from the steroid when she was on it for 4mos now is not on it daily and it was going down and now back up and with a vengence.

Any thoughts would be great...thanks

I remember it caused swelling for my mom too. It's a nasty, but effective, little medication.

My wife experienced the same swelling, especially while she was on taxotere and taking steroids. She was a bit self concious at first, but realizing it was a necessary evil she accepted the side effect. It did eventually go away though.

Thank-you I will share this with her...The nurse practioner keeps blaming it on the steroids and we had a good idea it was the chemo.

We had seen the Onc
We had seen the Onc. yest. and she was very concerned with the amount of swelling around Mom's eyes, nose and has little water bags under her eyes. Oh also the redness on cheeks (almost a bad sunburn look) her sugg. was to add the Decadron back on the day after chemo. So the day before the day of and the day after and she also will call her Periodontist to get her off Doxycycline b/c that could be effecting the taxotere.
We dont have much hope with the extra day of steroid, but hope to see a change if she's able to get off Doxycyline.

The Onc. cant figure out why no swelling anywhere else ankles and belly are fine.

Did your wife have lose of appetite on this as well? Mom has not much and lost 5 lbs so far.

Sleepless,
Yes she lost her appetite and she was petite to start with but she was able to maintain a steady but lower weight throughout. My wife couldn't escape the red cheeks while on decadron.

My daugheter, son-in-law and the grandchildren brought me to a brunch, then back to my home where we shared stories, laughed and smiled. Just what Linda would have wanted and enjoyed herself. it's already been 3 weeks ( tonight) but I still feel her, smell her and even hear her....weird, but true! Anyway, i have gained lots of experience over these past years, so please feel free to ask for advice.

Sleepless, I have lot's of experience to draw on and i would not mind sharing it with you and others. It almost feels like a fictional story sometimes because it has definately not fully registered yet. There are many success stories on this site and I consider my wifes story one of them. She may have passed away, but she beat cancer! She is not in pain and I need to believe she is in a better place.
Keep up the fight, I look forward to sharing your positive experiences and will be there for the "not so positive" if you wish to share those as well.
Either way, I wish you continued progress agaist this beast.

Checking in on you~
Just seeing how you are doing?

Im so trying to stay positive around Mom, but I feel like it just gets harder and harder. Especially Dad he holds it all in and doesn't say to much. He wants to take Mom away for her 61st Birthday Aug.2nd just doesn't know if its a good idea...she now is getting sick more frequently, lots more fatigue and now she just showed me her RT. arm (we think is one of the side effects of the taxotere that we were warned about) the darkening of one vein so far where she got her TX last week.
They nolonger give her orally Decadron and last week was the 1st time they reduced her Dec. from 10mg to 4mg so her face didn't swell and the redness was also good as well. Do you think theres a great posability that do to the reduction of dec. she's reacting the way she is? Ok ya know how ya write things down and you see things more clearly, well I think I just answered my own question! Just called Dad and its 6:46am to share my thoughts and he's going to talk to the nurse practitoner before her TX this morning to discuss it.
