Doctors just love looking at my butt . . .
I now walk into the Mabee Clinic at S&W with a sense of calm with these follow-up appointments. So far from how I felt just 4 months ago. THAT feels wonderful.
Say a little prayer for me on Friday.
Love to all.

Hi Angela!
How about if I start saying prayers for you today? You know, the "cumulative effect!" Seriously, I wish you the very best news on Friday and will be thinking of you.
As for doctors looking at our butts, I'm down to only one that does that these days. I'm approaching the 3-year post-treatment mark and I guess the other docs just don't find my butt as interesting as they used to! Perhaps the "honey-moon" is over! The good news is, the doc that does check me out is the butt expert of the group, so no complaints here.
It sounds like you are being followed-up very closely and that's great. I hope you are doing well and may the news always be good for you. Hugs!0 -

Angela, will be thinking of you and praying - please keep us posted on results which I know will be good! I am with you, much as I get anxious about the scans, I do feel a sense of peace going into the hospital for my meetings. I think it is because we know if Godforbid something was wrong they would find it right away and treat it. Right now I see my oncologist every three months, my radiologist every six (but if all well in December I won't have to see her anymore) and my colo rectal surgeon every 3. My oncologist is wonderful, I can call her with anything, anytime and she is on top of it. She was telling me the last visit that she loves being around her 15 month old son and is finding it hard to go to work. I offered to babysit him at the hospital so as not to lose her, she laughed at that - funny no, I was serious! lol.
Martha - honey 'moon'? Cracked me up and made me laugh out loud. Three year milestone...wow...so excited for you. You have always been there for me (and many others) during all this and I wish you many many many many more anniversaries free of the dreaded C word. Hugs, Marilyne0 -

Yes, I remember how popular my behind was in the beginning, as I went to a teaching hospital and the dr asked if the fellows could come in and look. That made the dr, 3 fellows, and the nurse. I said sure bring in the whole floor. Well now when I go in theres just the dr, 1 fellow and the nurse, so I am not an enigma anymore. I will have 2 years post tx on 6-30-11. I am sending prayers and positive thoughts to you for a great follow up. I wish you well, Lori.0 -

Hi Angela,
I will also be thinking and praying that all goes well at your appt. which I am sure it will. I have an appt. on June 27th and I am a nervous wreck because it will be my 2 year milestone check up. I finished treatments June 10 2009. Please wish me luck too.
I saw my colorectal doctor every month - 2 months for the first 6 months and then it went to 3 up to a year, then 6 and now he says a year (yikes) I told him no longer than 9 months....haha he said fine! My radiation oncologist I only saw once after treatment and then not at all and the medical oncologist (whom I love) was 3 months up until a little over a year and now 6 months.
Keep us posted and take care

I love the support one gets (and gives) on this board! Your words and experiences are inspiring to us 'newbies.'
My radiation oncologist, who is viewing my very special **** tomorrow, is my favorite out of my oncologist team. She's super proactive and on the ball. I go to a teaching hospital as well, so I never know just how many are going to take a peak at each visit. But my nerves have settled so much as far as these follow-up appointments go. Could be that I have a teenager who just got his driver's license TODAY and two more starting driver's ed in July. Cancer is NOTHING compared to having three teenage boys!!!
Big, fat blessings to ALL of us on our continued journeys!

Angela, I just love your attitude!
Who among us would have ever thought our butts would be so interesting.
To those who are new to this, just know that the doctors and nurses do this for a living - they've seen much worse than what you're showing them. In the beginning, I know I just kept thinking 'they do this ALL the time - don't be nervous or embarrassed - they're professionals' and it helped a lot.
Good luck with your teens starting to drive - I don't envy you that!
Keep us laughing Angela!0 -

All of my modesty flew out the window 15 years ago when I had twins with about 14 people in the delivery room. Now I will drop my drawers for most anyone without any hesitation.
My radiologist techs were always trying to cover me up from the back as I sashayed down the radiation oncology halls. :)We did have fun! I can't wait to drop in to tell them "hi" tomorrow. I may have to show them my backside for them to recognize me since I've lost another 10 lbs, have cut my hair super short and gone from platinum blonde to red!0 -
too many cooks in the kitchen....
hi angela.. August,i will be 3 yrs NED.Early on i realized i didnt need or want the whole "team" examining me..I asked my colorectal surgeon if it was necessary to have the radiologist and oncologist checking me too.He said no..not at all.Having the other doctors also look was an unnecessary replication and honestly uncomfortable. For the first two years,I went every three months for a sygmoidoscopy.Once a year I also have a colonoscopy(ugh). .Now i have my "look see" every six months.I feel i'm in very good hands (haha) with my colorectal doctor.Sometimes you just need one cook in the kitchen.Hugs ..alyse0 -

My doctors and I discussed this a few months ago and I actually chose the 'all hands on deck' approach. They rotate my exams between the three of them for the most part and I like that. And it being a teaching hospital, I like the idea that my bottom is being used to teach my 4th doctor, who is orginially an internist, about anal cancer. I'm veeeerrrry comfortable with all of them.0 -
