    Port pain
I had a left mastectomy so my port was placed nearly in the center above my right breast. Surgeon said he couldn't go any lower because he couldn't put it in breast tissue, and he also had to have a suitable vessel.

I had more trouble with port pain than I did my mastectomy. I didnt take any pain pills til I got the port. It was sore off and on for about 6 months and has calmed down in the last 2, so things are looking up.

Please remember, any surgical procedure has the risk of infection, so if you are having lots of pain or it just looks or feels scary, call your doc. That's what he is there for.
Also, you don't want to have a bunch of trouble with something that is supposed to be helpful.

I am not crazy about my port or it's placement, and don't know how long my MO wants me to keep it, but there is one thing I do know....it was my best buddy during chemo.

Take care, good luck, call your doc if problems persist,

Adk your surgowen about why the placement.
Ask your surgeon about the placement and why.

"Sore" means a lot of different things to different people. 2 days after having my port put in I was riding and giving lessons but I got out of doing 'heavy' barn chores for 2 weeks. We're all different.

    Port
I've had my Bard power port in a week tomorrow. Mine is also still pretty sore. It's on the right side of my chest. My surgeon said the soreness is due to the fact that it's sewn into the muscle.
