Has anyone actually had the HIPEC treatment with recurrent ovarian cancer

HIPEC
I had this surgery in Jan 2011 and am currently in the middle of Carbo/Taxol chemo. I was dx in Dec 27, 2010 with a lot of abdominal tumors, some quite large. I came across "HIPEC" on the internet and decided it made a lot of sense for me. IT IS A DIFFICuLT surgery with a lot of potential complications. I also talked to 3 people who had HIPEC for colon cancer. My inference was these 3 people weren't that satisfied with their surgeries....one had lots of complications and the other two had their cancer return within a few months after HIPEC. One of these was not yet on follow up chemo and I'm not sure about the other.

My surgery was Jan 20, involved quite a bit of debulking...took out all female organs, omentum, gall bladder, spleen, appendix, part of bladder and part of stomach. The source of the cancer was ovarian. Too, it was on part of the peritoneum. Given my situation, I felt HIPEC was the more hopeful and I could have gone the more conventional route then later, if the cx reocurred, go the HIPEC route. I decided I would never be as strong as I was in Jan because I had not yet had any surgery/chemo to wear me down. So I chose to do the HIPEC.

So, no I didn't do it for recurrent cx but if you need more info on the HIPEC, I'll be glad to share anything I know or learned during the surgery.
