Feeling Free Today

Yippee! I'm feeling free today!!!

I was able to have my surgical drain removed from my body this morning and I couldn't be happier!

If you have never had to have one, I hope you never will need one. They are so very uncomfortable, cumbersome to get around with and high maintenance to take care of.

I was reminded this morning to take it easy and not overdo things physically for a couple of days.

Now, to rest and get ready to move onto more appointments next week.

    The Dreaded Drains
Oh lucky you! I am envious. I had my tissue expander exchange surgery done on Monday and at the same time a breast reduction was done on the opposite side. I came home with 3 drains. This is the 3rd time I have had drains and it is yucky each time. I had 2 of the 3 drains removed yesterday and am hoping that the last one can be removed during my appt on Tuesday.

    Enjoy your new found freedom.

    Congrats!
I know I did a little happy dance down the surgery office hallway! A whole shower all at once, it's a wonderful thing.

Good luck with your next appts,

That IS wonderful. I really detested the drain. It didn't matter what I did, I could never get comfortable with it.

Wish my last drain had stayed in longer
I never found my drains "very uncomfortable" or uncomfortable at all - was just there. One was taken out at 2 weeks post and that other ar 4 weeks - wish the last one taken out had been left longer as I had issues with seronma after it was out - seroma was still showing on scans 11 months after surgery. I still had a fair bit of drainage at 4 weeks post but Dr took it out as he thought that it was irritating the area - wrong - it should have stayed. I'm a 'tubbie' person so batheing was not an issue for me.

    We're all different!

I only had the one drain, but, it couldn't come out soon enough for me. Those darn things should be banned!
